ObjectivesTo discuss actual dosage of classical prescription of Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases nowadays, determine the criterion of dosage convert, and explore the influence of dosage of classical prescriptions on prescriptions of clinical practice nowadays.Methods & ResultsThrough studied on literature, quantified the nonstandard drugs, investigated prescriptions in various areas, and made animal experiment, etc. We expected to search security, effective, feasible criterion of dosage convert of classical prescription.1. Literature studyReferred to ancient medical classics literatures which recorded classical recipes, especially those emended by the government. For example, Formularies of the Bureau of People's Welfare Pharmacies, Compendium of Materia Medica, et al. Delved the evolution of dosage of classical prescriptions. Referred to ancient books and records of metrology evolution, especially drug dosage in classical recipes, compared the change of various epoch, combined metrology production and searched for historical materials of metrology, and deduced the criterion of dosage convert of classical prescriptions.It was found that the criterion of 1 liang convert 13.8 gramme was accorded with the historical facts of the evolution of metrology, provided by science and historical materials, it reflected the fact of dosage of classical prescriptions. But, the criterion of 1 liang convert 3 gramme was not according with the fact and not sustained by metrology.2. Measured non-standard weight drugsFor some drugs of non-standard measurement, such as entries, size, et al. We measured their weight in drugstore according to their primary usage, consulted the measurement productions of others, averaged them and comparatively made sure their actual dosage in classical prescriptions.According to the criterion of 1liang convert 13.8 gramme, it was found that the dose of drugs was accorded with their ingredients in classical prescriptions; according to the...
