| Vascular dementia is a acquired cognitive dysfunction syndrome , a result of different pathogenic and different pathological cerebrovascular diseases ,whose morbidity ,disabling rate and mortality is quite high, it is a focus of medical problem at present. According to my tutor's long-term clinical practical experiences, he regarded that the main pathogenesis of the disease is that blood stasis in cerebral venules and deficiency of the kidney qi ,so he established the therapeutic theory that promoting blood circulation and removing the blood stasis combined with nourishing kidney and brain. KangNaoLing capsule is made by advanced pharmacy technology based on the ancient famous prescription "Decoction of Xiongqiong" and the modern pharmacological studies. Pharmacological study showed that KangNaoLing capsule can improve the ability for rat model of vascular dementia to learn and memory , reduce the level of MDA in brain ,which is the product of free radical metabolism , enhance the activity of SOD ,decrease the blood viscosity ,increase the blood flux of microcirculation of brain ,can enhance the expression of Bcl-2 protein in the nerve cell of CA1 section of hippocampus, restrain the expression of Bax protein .A clinical observation from forty cases showed that the total effective rate of KangNaoLing capsule group is 77.5 per cent, which is superior to NaoFuKang group(p<0.05),and no significant side-effect.
