China is a veritable export power, but the overall level of quality of Chinese exports is low and has long been at the low end of the value chain. With the in-depth development of economic globalization, the space for promoting exports through tariff reduction has been very limited, and the negative impact of non-efficiency and non-facilitation factors on trade has become more and more obvious. Therefore, trade facilitation issues are gradually becoming a priority in international multilateral, regional and bilateral economic cooperation. The entry into force of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP)on January 1,2022 has brought a ray of light to the sluggish economic globalization and strengthened the willingness of the countries in the region to engage in deeper cooperation.the entry into force of RCEP provides a new opportunity to promote China’s foreign trade. However, the degree of development of RCEP member countries varies, what is their level of trade facilitation, and whether trade facilitation in RCEP member countries can affect the quality of Chinese manufacturing exports. It is of great theoretical and practical significance to conduct in-depth research and discussion on these issues. This thesis selects RCEP member countries as the research sample and adopts various methods such as literature analysis and empirical analysis to investigate the impact of trade facilitation in RCEP member countries on the quality of China’s manufacturing exports.Firstly, the data of UN COMTRADE database is used to analyze China’s export trade, export product structure and export countries to RCEP member countries, and to find out the existing problems and future development trends.Second, based on the literature on trade facilitation and product quality of manufacturing exports at home and abroad, the entropy method is selected to measure the level of trade facilitation in RCEP member countries, and the inverse demand structure method is used to measure the product quality of China’s manufacturing exports to RCEP member countries to pave the way for the empirical evidence. Then, the impact of trade facilitation on the quality of China’s manufacturing exports is empirically investigated by using a fixed-effects model,an endogeneity test by using trade facilitation lags,a robustness test by replacing trade facilitation measures, extreme values treatment and omitted variables bias, and an analysis of industry heterogeneity according to different technology-based industries and The impact of trade facilitation level 1 indicators on export product quality. Finally, according to the results of the study,(1)the trade facilitation level between China and RCEP member countries shows an overall increasing trend, but the trade facilitation level among member countries has a large gap;(2)the quality of Chinese manufacturing exports to RCEP member countries is low overall, and the quality of manufacturing exports to different RCEP member countries is uneven;(3)the trade facilitation level of RCEP member countries has a significant impact on the quality of Chinese manufacturing exports.(3)The improvement of trade facilitation level of RCEP member countries has promoted the product quality of China’s manufacturing exports.(3)The improvement of trade facilitation in RCEP member countries has promoted the quality of China’s manufacturing export products, which is not significant for China’s low-tech manufacturing industry and high-tech manufacturing industry, but not for China’s medium-tech manufacturing industry;(4)Customs management and ecommerce and financial services in RCEP member countries have promoted the quality of China’s manufacturing export products, while the effects of infrastructure quality and government regulation are not significant.Based on the above findings, this thesis focuses on e-commerce and financial services and customs management to propose countermeasures.
