The report of the 20 th Party Congress pointed out that high-quality development is the primary task of building a modern socialist country, and high-quality economic development means that the concept of economic development has shifted from "whether there is" to "whether it is good",and one of the connotations of high-quality development is to require economic One of the connotations of high quality development is that the economy should develop in a coordinated and smooth cycle of major relationships.Industrial structure and consumption structure play a vital role for the whole society and economy, one represents the supply and the other represents the demand, and both of them together constitute the circulation point of economic and social development. Therefore, the study of the interaction and coordination between industrial structure and consumption structure in China at this stage is crucial to the realization of high-quality development of China’s economy. Therefore it is particularly meaningful to consider the regional differences of each city in a targeted manner and explore the factors influencing the coordinated development of industrial structure and consumption structure at different regional levels.Based on the theory related to industrial structure and consumption structure, this thesis explores the mechanism of their interactive influence, combines the current situation of the development of industrial structure and consumption structure in China, and further calculates the level of coordination between industrial structure and consumption structure from the information entropy of output value structure and eight categories of consumption structure using the formula.Using PVAR model and hierarchical linear model, this thesis first empirically studies the interaction between industrial structure and consumption structure in 34 large and medium-sized cities in China from 2000 to 2020.The results show that the promotion effect of industrial structure upgrading on consumption structure optimization is larger, compared to the relative effect of consumption structure optimization on industrial structure upgrading. The stratified influencing factors of the coordinated development of industrial structure and consumption structure in 233 prefecture-level cities in China in 2019 are then empirically studied. The results show that 44.1% of the coordination of consumption structure and industrial structure in prefecture-level municipalities is caused by the influence of factors at the provincial level;both the level of science and technology innovation and labor payments level at the prefecture-level municipalities have a positive contribution to the improvement of the coordination of consumption structure and industrial structure in prefecture-level municipalities;the degree of trade openness at the provincial level has a positive effect on the improvement of consumption structure and industrial structure in prefecture-level municipalities, and the increase of unemployment rate is not conducive to the coordinated development of consumption structure and industrial structure in prefecture-level cities.Based on the above analysis, suggestions and countermeasures are proposed to promote the coordinated development of industrial structure and consumption structure: accelerating the scale and level of development of the three industries, promoting the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure;changing the concept of consumption and form a new consumer industry chain;promoting employment to improve the wage level of workers, increasing the development of science and technology innovation at the local and municipal levels, strengthening the integration of provincial and provincial development, and adjusting the coordinated development of consumption structure and industrial structure.
