With the rapid development of Chinese economy,China’s economic strength has made considerable progress,has grown into the world’s second largest economy.However,China’s basic research is relatively weak,and some key core technologies have not yet made a great breakthrough,and with the current international competition,the increase of uncertain and unpredictable factors,the United States and western countries to suppress and blockade our country in all aspects,all these put forward new higher requirements for our economic development.As an important carrier to improve innovation capacity,stimulate innovation vitality and create innovation ecology,enterprises should play a greater role in the whole chain innovation as the combination of innovation chain and industry chain.The importance of innovation has been needless to say,but how to stimulate the innovation initiative of Chinese enterprises,improve the innovation ability,is still a need to explore and excavate.There are abundant researches on the factors that affect the innovation capability of enterprises,which can be divided into two perspectives,namely,internal factors and external factors.Among them,the internal factors can be easily mastered and adjusted by the enterprise itself,and thus have an impact on the innovation ability of the enterprise.Therefore,it is of great significance for the innovation development of enterprises to explore how to improve the innovation ability and innovation performance of enterprises by studying the influence of accounting conservatism and heterogeneity of top management team on the innovation ability of enterprises.In this paper,accounting conservatism,heterogeneity of top management team and innovation performance of enterprises are included into the same framework for research,to analyze the influence mechanism of accounting conservatism on innovation performance of enterprises,and explore the moderating effect of heterogeneity of top management team.In this paper,domestic and foreign literatures related to accounting conservatism,heterogeneity of senior management team and enterprise innovation performance are reviewed.Based on relevant theories,this paper analyzes and puts forward the hypothesis of this paper.High-tech enterprises among the listed companies in Shenzhen and Shanghai from 2017 to 2021 are selected as the research objects for empirical analysis.The results show that:(1)accounting conservatism has an inhibitory effect on enterprise innovation performance;(2)R&D investment has a partial mediating effect between accounting conservatism and firm innovation performance,indicating that accounting conservatism inhibits firm innovation performance by inhibiting firm R&D investment;(3)Gender heterogeneity and occupational background heterogeneity of top management teams have no moderating effect on the relationship between accounting conservatism and innovation performance;(4)The heterogeneity of senior executives’ educational background and overseas background negatively moderates the relationship,while the heterogeneity of financial background promotes the relationship.Based on the empirical analysis results and research conclusions,this paper puts forward the following suggestions:(1)Enterprises should choose the degree of accounting conservatism carefully.Too low degree of accounting conservatism will lead to opportunistic behavior of senior executives,while too high degree of accounting conservatism will inhibit the innovation performance of enterprises;(2)For the construction of senior management team,it is necessary to absorb senior management members with different educational backgrounds and overseas backgrounds,while it is less likely to absorb senior management members with financial background.The innovation of this paper is that it enriches the research of accounting conservatism on firm innovation performance and tests the moderating effect of heterogeneity of top management team. |
