The Impact Of Infrastructure Construction On County Economic Growth

In the current key period of building a well-off society in an all-round way and achieving overall poverty alleviation in the whole country,county economy as the basic unit of national economy,its development process gradually transitioning from a period of rapid development to a period of high quality development,facing more development opportunities and challenges,and infrastructure construction can effectively improve production conditions,improve residents’ lives,protect county social stability and other functions.It is of great practical significance to explore how infrastructure construction affects county economic growth and further distinguish the difference of the impact of various types of major infrastructure on county economic growth,which is helpful to provide theoretical reference for the government to make reasonable planning for infrastructure construction.In view of this,first of all,through understanding related economic growth theories and combined with relevant literature,the paper summarizes the impact mechanism of infrastructure on county economic growth from both direct and indirect perspectives.Then,by sorting out panel data,three types of intermediary variables,proxy indicators of county economy and infrastructure are selected to construct a mediation effect model for empirical analysis and verification of the rationality of the initially proposed influence mechanism.Then,various proxy indicators of infrastructure and county economy are selected to determine and construct the fixed effect model of infrastructure construction on county economic growth through Hausmann test.Stata14 econometric software is used for regression analysis to test the heterogeneity of the influence direction and degree of various infrastructure on county economic growth.To further understand the impact of different types of infrastructure on county economic growth.The research results of this paper show that all the influence mechanisms of infrastructure on county economy proposed in this paper are valid,the direct effects pass the robustness test and the heterogeneity test,and the intermediary effects of the three indirect mechanisms are very strong,and the empirical results coincide with the research hypothesis of this paper,thus strengthening the credibility of the conclusions of this paper.Among the six types of infrastructure selected,the regression coefficients of energy and health and medical infrastructure represented by social electricity consumption and medical beds are all greater than 0.13,indicating a relatively high level of significance,which has a great impact on county economic growth.The regression coefficients of transportation,information and network infrastructure represented by road mileage,mobile phone users and broadband access users are all greater than 0.07,which is similar to the expected results and also has a relatively high significance level,which plays an obvious role in promoting county economic growth.The regression coefficient of education infrastructure represented by the number of ordinary middle schools is 0.03.Although the effect on county economic growth is positive,the effect is very weak and can be ignored in the short term.Through the whole research process above,this paper identifies how to reasonably allocate the limited financial funds to different types of infrastructure construction,solves the key problem of which aspects the county government should invest in infrastructure construction to maximize the effect,and helps the county government to plan infrastructure construction to promote the county economic growth.
