The Influence Of The Depth Of Free Trade Agreement On The Competitiveness Of China’s Service Trade

Today,the world trade structure is increasingly tilted towards service trade.However,China’s service trade still has problems such as serious trade deficit and low proportion of modern service trade export,so its export competitiveness needs to be improved urgently.Since the strategy of free trade area was put forward at the 17 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,China’s circle of free trade friends has been expanding,the number of free trade agreements signed has been increasing,and the scope of free trade agreements signed has gradually expanded from the traditional tariff issues to more issues such as services,investment,intellectual property protection,and the depth of free trade agreements signed has also been increasing.How to further open up the service trade market and enhance the competitiveness of China’s service trade is particularly important through deepening regional cooperation.Based on the bilateral trade data between China and 25 major trading partners,this paper studies the influence of the depth of free trade agreements on China’s service trade competitiveness.This empirical study draws the following conclusions:the increase in the depth of free trade agreement can significantly improve the competitiveness of China’s service trade;The coverage and enforceability of the core clauses in the agreement play a greater role in enhancing the competitiveness of China’s service trade.From the perspective of trade partners with different levels of economic development,the increase in the depth of free trade agreement can significantly improve China’s service trade competitiveness against developed countries,but the increase in the depth of free trade agreement between China and developing countries has no significant promoting effect on China’s service trade competitiveness.In terms of different service categories,the depth of FTA can significantly improve China’s competitiveness in technology-intensive service industries,but has no significant promoting effect on the competitiveness of labor-intensive and capital-intensive services.Based on the above research conclusions,this paper puts forward some policy suggestions which are helpful to promote the implementation of China’s free trade zone strategy and accelerate the improvement of service trade competitiveness.
