R food factory is a medium-sized food processing company.With the continuous maturity of the product line,the brand power of the company is also improving.However,in the operation of the factory,there are often phenomena such as suppliers’ untimely supply,material shortage resulting in delayed delivery,workshop rework,scrap of raw materials and so on.Therefore,a good study on the optimization of raw material inventory management will help to solve practical problems and help R food factory reduce costs and improve operation efficiency.The author obtains first-hand information by field research and interview,then distinguishes the production mode in R food factory,and analyzes the problems and causes of raw material inventory management under MTS and MTO modes.This paper holds that under the MTS mode of R food factory,the level of raw material inventory is high and the sluggish phenomenon is serious.The main reasons are the inaccurate demand forecast in the early stage and the high setting of raw material safety inventory;Under MTO mode,raw materials cannot be delivered in time,resulting in delayed delivery.The reason is that when a large number of emergency orders appear at the same time,MTO mode is not suitable for the existing capacity of R food factory.This paper presents an optimization scheme as follows: The exponential smoothing forecast model and linear trend forecast method are used to optimize the demand forecasting model;The optimization of raw material safety stock setting,using the relevant principles of mathematical statistics to quantify the uncertainty of demand and the fluctuation of lead time;The optimization scheme of production and operation mode is to divide MTO mode products into two categories according to the length of shelf life: long shelf life products and short shelf life products.This paper holds that in R food factory,products with long shelf life are suitable for ATO mode,and products with short shelf life adopt MTS mode based on Newsvendor model.
