With the increasing globalisation of the economy, competition between companies is becoming increasingly fierce, and companies not only have to face challenges from competitors in the same industry, but also have to react to unexpected situations in a timely manner. With such fierce competition, companies are no longer able to respond effectively to the challenges they face, especially when unexpected events occur, and they do not have enough time to conduct detailed analysis and make appropriate decisions. Therefore, how to react quickly and correctly to crisis events in order to solve the crisis or even turn it into an opportunity has become the focus of many management scholars.Improvisation,as a creative use of knowledge by organisations under time pressure,is able to respond to a crisis at the moment it arises, significantly reducing the time required for analysis,decision-making and reaction within the organisation, and thus increasing the resilience and flexibility of the organisation in times of crisis.Organisational improvisation is therefore seen by scholars as a very effective approach for organisations to adopt in the face of emergencies, and the ability to improvise has increasingly become a prerequisite for the continued survival and growth of organisations in crisis situations. However, not much research has been conducted on the mechanisms of organisational improvisation and its interconnection with crisis management.Although scholars’ interest in organisational improvisation continues to rise, due to the specificity and extremity of the research context, most of the current research on organisational improvisation remains at a theoretical level, limited to the discussion of the definition and dimensions of organisational improvisation, with more emphasis on the role played by organisational improvisation in dealing with crisis events, but how organisational improvisation is formed and how it interacts with crisis management remains However, the relationship between how organisational improvisation is formed and the interaction between organisational improvisation and crisis management is still unclear and needs to be further explored and tested. Therefore, this paper first uses the literature research method to review a large number of relevant studies and materials to define the concepts related to organisational improvisation and crisis management, and proposes hypotheses on the symbiotic evolution path of organisational improvisation and crisis management based on symbiosis theory and dynamic capability theory as well as previous research results.Due to the specificity of the research problem, this paper adopts a case study approach to conduct a single case study on Xiaomi’s practice of turning crisis into opportunity, further defining the core object and core problem of the study, and formulating an outline of the problem for case data collection, then using Nvivo 12.0 software to conduct data coding,in the process of data coding is divided into open-ended primary coding, associative secondary coding and core Conclusion Tertiary coding was used to map out the formation and mechanism of organisational improvisation and crisis management in Internet enterprises, and to explore the evolutionary path of both from a symbiotic perspective. The study finds that:(1)the generation of organisational improvisation is related to four factors, namely strategy, organisational structure, team and culture;(2)the mechanisms of organisational improvisation and crisis management mainly focus on four aspects: positive activation, reaction, negative activation(crisis)and reaction(crisis management);(3)Organisational improvisation and crisis management can evolve symbiotically, forming a symbiotic flywheel of "generation-catalysis-adjustmentinternalisation",thus contributing to the continuous development of the organisation. The theoretical framework explored in this paper can help fill the gaps in current research on organisational improvisation and crisis management, and on this basis, improve the understanding of the symbiotic evolution of organisational improvisation and crisis management,as well as provide useful insights for many companies in the field of practice.
