In recent years, various domestic and international shocks have intensified frequently, and the uncertainties in the economic environment are increasing in all regions. So enhancing economic resilience has become a necessary initiative to cope with national policies.Urban clusters are the key regions for improving industrial chains.Industry,as the basis of economic development,is the most important factor affecting economic resilience. Therefore,it has certain theoretical and practical significance at present to evaluate scientifically the strength of industrial spatial linkage and the level of economic resilience of urban clusters, and to explore how the industrial spatial linkage of urban clusters can promote the improvement of economic resilience.Following the logic of "problem formulation → theoretical modeling → empirical analysis → policy application",Firstly,by reviewing a large amount of relevant literature, the connotation of industrial spatial linkage and economic resilience of urban agglomerations is clarified, and the influence mechanism of industrial spatial linkage on economic resilience is explored. Then, based on multidisciplinary basic theories about industrial economics, regional economics and economic geography,27 cities from urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River are chosen as research objects, and scientific methods are used to construct the industrial spatial linkage network, measure the centrality characteristics of the industrial spatial linkage network and evaluate the economic resilience of the urban agglomeration from 2010 to2019.Applying UCINET and Arc GIS visualization software, the characteristic of their spatio-temporal evolution are analyzed.Next, the urban panel data of urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River from 2010-2019 are selected, and the fixed-effect model and FGLS are applied to analyze the effects of centrality characteristics of the industrial spatial linkage network on the economic resilience of the urban agglomeration. Finally,a heterogeneity analysis is conducted using the moderating effect model to further explore the path of industrial spatial linkage characteristics to enhance economic resilience. The results show that: Firstly, there have been three major subzones centred on Wuhan,Changsha and Nanchang formed in the industrial spatial linkage network of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, called Wuhan metropolitan area,Changzhutan city cluster and Poyang Lake city cluster respectively. The industrial spatial linkage within each subzone is strong, while the industrial linkage between the subzones is not close enough. The industrial spatial linkage strength and economic resilience of the three subzones were ranked as: Wuhan metropolitan area >Changzhutan city cluster > Poyang Lake city cluster.Secondly, the industrial spatial linkage promotes the economic resilience of urban agglomeration, which passed a set of robustness tests.Thirdly,it is found by heterogeneity analysis that,in the cities with good financial environment or high degree of marketization or low degree of industrialisation, industrial spatial linkage more significantly enhances the economic resilience.Based on the above conclusions, from the perspectives of intra-and intercity as well as urban agglomeration, relevant countermeasures for industrial development and economic resilience of urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River are proposed.
