The "14th Five-Year Plan" clearly pointed out that to develop and expand strategic emerging industries,high-end equipment manufacturing industry,as one of the seven strategic emerging industries,plays a vital role in promoting China’s progress from a manufacturing country to a manufacturing power.With the improvement of the participation of the global value chain and the strong support of policies,the development of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry has emerged from scratch,the industry is complete and the scale is increasing,but compared with developed countries,there are still problems such as core technology and components subject to people,the lack of high-end industrial chain,and the lagging construction of related infrastructure,and it is still necessary to continuously improve its international competitiveness to promote sustained positive economic development.Based on the theory of global value chain and the theory of competitive advantage,this paper combines the existing research results of many scholars to study the international competitiveness of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry.Firstly,the development status of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry is analyzed from two aspects: the development history and characteristics,and the trade added value index method is used to measure the status and participation of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry in the global value chain.Secondly,the four international competitiveness evaluation methods of International Market Share Index(IMS),Trade Competitiveness Index(TC),Revealed Comparative Advantage Index(RCA)and Net Exports Revealed of Comparative Advantage Index(NERCA)are adopted to compare and analyze the relevant data of China and the three high-end equipment manufacturing powerhouses of the United States,Japan and Germany,and evaluate the international competitiveness of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry.Finally,based on the theory of competitive advantage,the index selection and model construction of the influencing factors of international competitiveness are carried out,and the influencing factors of international competitiveness of high-end equipment manufacturing industry under the influence of global value chain are empirically analyzed.This paper shows that the participation and status of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry in the global value chain are constantly improving,and the international competitiveness has also changed from weak comparative advantage to medium comparative advantage,but there is still a gap compared with the world’s highend equipment powers,and there are differences in the international competitiveness of various sub-industries.In addition,R&D investment,demand level and related industry development play a significant role in the international competitiveness of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry.The role of corporate strategic structure and foreign investment in international competitiveness is not obvious,and policy guidance and support still need to be strengthened.Therefore,on the basis of considering the leading trend of the global value chain,government policies and factor supply,this paper proposes an upgrade path that is in line with the development of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry in the future division of labor.
