Research On The Impact Of Digital Service Trade On Export Technological Sophistication Of Manufacturing Industry

The manufacturing industry is the main body of the national economy,the foundation underlying all efforts to build the country,the tool of rejuvenating the country and the basis of enhancing the national strength.A new round of technological revolution and industrial change is booming,and adjustments in the global division of labor and the structure of world trade have accelerated,the uncertainty and instability of the external environment of manufacturing development is increasing.China’s manufacturing industry is undergoing a transition from a big manufacturing country to a powerful manufacturing country,and the strategy of manufacturing strong country has entered a critical period.At the same time,the development of digital trade has entered a fast lane and become a key force supporting high-quality economic development and rapid growth of international trade.Under this background,exploring the internal relationship between digital service trade and manufacturing export technological sophistication is great significance to further enhance the position of China’s manufacturing industry in the global value chain.At present,scholars at home and abroad mostly focus on the concept,classification and influencing factors of digital service trade,and the research on manufacturing export technological sophistication mostly focuses on the measurement methods and influencing factors,few explore the impact of digital service trade on the manufacturing export technological sophistication.Based on this,this thesis proposes relevant concept definition and theoretical foundation on the basis reviewing domestic and foreign literature,calculates the level of digital service trade and manufacturing export technological sophistication in provinces of China,systematically explains the influence mechanism of digital service trade on manufacturing export technological sophistication.After constructing a theoretical model with cost saving effect,technology spillover effect and human capital optimization effect as mediating effect,full-sample benchmark regression and sub-sample heterogeneity regression are conducted on the panel data,and intermediary variables are introduced in the model to further study the indirect influence mechanism of digital service trade on the manufacturing export technological sophistication.The study shows that digital service trade ha systematically explains s a significant positive impact on the improvement of China’s manufacturing export technological sophistication,but the effect shows regional heterogeneity.Specifically,digital service trade has a promoting effect on the manufacturing export technological sophistication in the eastern,central,and northeastern regions,while this promotion effect is not seen significantly in the western region;Meanwhile,the technology spillover effect and the human capital optimization effect mediate the impact of digital service trade on the manufacturing export technological sophistication,while the mediating effect of cost saving effect was not seen significantly.Finally,based on the empirical results and analysis,this thesis proposes rationalized policy recommendations and points out the shortcomings of the study and future research directions.
