| For a long time, promoting urbanization has been an important issue facing China’s development. The 2023 government work report pointed out that the urbanization rate of China’s permanent population has increased from 60.2% to 65.2% in the past five years, and the development goal of the 14 th Five Year Plan has been fulfilled ahead of schedule. At the same time, urbanization in our country is changing from traditional urbanization to the new urbanization. The area and population of the old revolutionary base areas account for 28.4%and 55.5% of the total area and total population of China. It can be seen that the key to growth of China’s economy and society is development of urbanization in old revolutionary base areas. As one of the birthplaces of the Chinese revolution,Jiangxi has the earliest revolutionary base areas and is a typical representative of the old revolutionary areas. Now,Jiangxi old revolutionary base areas have a lot of problems such as net population outflow,semi-urbanization,inadequate urbanization and uneconomic urbanization. There is still a gap between the urbanization construction of Jiangxi old revolutionary base areas and the urbanization with the new development concept as the core.Due to the defects of traditional urbanization roads in public services, infrastructure, resources and environment, the traditional urbanization mode of the old revolutionary base areas is obviously no longer suitable for the requirements of The Times in the new development stage. Therefore, this thesis aims to make a certain theoretical and practical contribution to the new development stage of Jiangxi old revolutionary base areas. This thesis has studied intension of urbanization under the guidance of new development concept, studied development course of urbanization in our revolutionary old people’s areas, analyzed the current situation of development of urbanization in Jiangxi revolutionary old people’s areas. The evaluation index setup of urbanization construction in Jiangxi is constructed from 16 indicators including four subsystems of population development, economic development, social development and urban and rural development. This thesis measures the development level of urbanization in 71 old revolutionary base areas of Jiangxi Province, and then uses the nuclear density curve and Taylor index to explore the spatiotemporal dynamic evolution characteristics and regional variation differences of the development level of urbanization in old revolutionary base areas of Jiangxi Province. The panel fixed effect model was applied to 71 old revolutionary base areas in Jiangxi Province from 2011 to 2020 to explore the driving effect of high-quality development of urbanization in Jiangxi revolutionary old people’s areas and determine the driving factors of development of urbanization. The results show that:(1)There is a strong consistency between the overall and regional development trend of urbanization in Jiangxi old revolutionary base areas, and the trend is basically rising.(2)Generally speaking, the development level of urbanization in northern Jiangxi is the highest, followed by that in northeast Jiangxi, third in southern Jiangxi and lowest in central Jiangxi.(3)From the perspective of regional disparities, the high quality construction of urbanization in Jiangxi backward areas has large intra-regional differences, which is the main source of the overall disparity.(4)Among the impact indicators of development of urbanization, population quality, economic level, industrial structure and government input showed obvious forward direction driving effect; There is a negative driving effect in the urban-rural gap on the development of urbanization. In the light of previous research, this thesis proposes following countermeasures: First, take advantage of the radiative driving effect of the central city, narrow the regional gap;Second, formulate development policies for old districts and increase government support;Third, create advantageous industries and optimize the industrial structure;Fourth, adhere to the people-oriented,improve the quality of the population;Fifth, promote integrated urban and rural development and narrow the gap between urban and rural areas. |
