Nowadays,economies around the world are growing slowly,unpredictability arises in the environment of the global market,domestic and international businesses are confronted with a plethora of unanticipated obstacles.It is necessary for organizational managers to place a significant amount of reliance on their employees and inspire them to contribute to organizational development in order to accomplish long-term steady development and,ultimately,to make the vision of the organization a reality.It has always been an important research topic on how managers can stimulate and instill vigor in employees and promote them to conduct behaviors that are helpful to the development of the organization.As a shared perception of how the future organizational would be,vision exerts stronger influence on stimulating employee vigor and proactive than economic reward,especially when such vision is communicated by leaders and recognized by employees.Drawing from theory of resources conservation,we propose leader vision communication as the resources employees can obtain in their workplace,inspiring employees and contributing to their proactive behavior.Relatedly,the relationship quality between leaders and employees can serve as a resource to amplify the effectiveness of leader vision communication.Therefore,we develop a theoretical model in relation to leader vision communication and employee proactive behavior,with employee work vigor as the mediating variable,leader-member exchange as the moderating variable.To test the theorical model,we conducted a two-wave survey and obtained a sample size of 543.We used the software of SPSS 26.0 to examine reliability of the measurements and conduct descriptive statistics(e.g.,means,standard deviations,and the correlations)to generate summaries about data samples.The software of Mplus7.4 was used to conduct confirmatory factor analysis to examine the discrimination validity for the main variables.We utilized PROCESS macro in SPSS 26.0 to test hypothesized relationships related to our theorical model.The following conclusions were obtained from this study:(1)Leader vision communication is positively related to employee proactive behaviors(2)Employee work at vigor mediates the relationship between leader vision communication and employee proactive behavior;(3)Leader-member exchange moderates the relationship between leader vision communication and employee work vigor,such that the positive relationship is strengthened when leader-member exchange is higher rather than lower;(4)Leader-member exchange moderates the indirect relationship between leader vision communication and employee proactive behavior through employee vigor at work,such that the indirect relationship is strengthened when leader-member exchange is higher rather than lower.The present study contributes to existing literature in serval ways:(1)Taking the lens of theory of resources conservation to investigate the consequences of leader vision communication enriches the theoretical perspective in exploring the consequences of leader influence;(2)Recognizing leader-member exchange as boundary condition between leader vision communication and employee proactive behavior strengthens the understanding of such relationship;(3)We enriches the exploration of the antecedents of employee proactive behavior;(4)The present study complement the literature in investigating the implication of leader vision communication.We also have some implications for managerial practices:(1)Leaders should communicate with employees more and exchange ideas for the future development of the organization,so that employees can realize the meaningfulness of the work they are doing,ecognize the value of the organizational vision,and thereby increase work vigor;(2)Leaders are expected to build and maintain a high-quality relationship with employees to enhance employees sense of trust in leadership and better capture what employees are needed and what they want to achieve in the workplace;(3)Managers are ought to be take different measures to enhance the publicity of the vision of organization,so that employees can have a sense of identity and have a deep understanding of organizational vision.In turn,they would show more enthusiasm for work and engage in more proactive behaviors that are beneficial to the organization.
