Research On The Impact Of Industrial Structure Adjustment On Urban-rural Income Gap

With the rapid development of China’s urbanization and national economy,urban and rural residents have enjoyed the dividends brought by the reform and development,and their income and living standards have been greatly improved.However,narrowing the income gap between urban and rural residents is still an issue that needs long-term attention.The development and change of industry has the effect of income distribution,which will have a significant impact on the income level of employees in different industries.The adjustment of industrial structure can promote the rational allocation of resources among industries,improve the employment structure and income structure of residents between urban and rural areas.At the same time,the county seat is an important hub connecting urban and rural areas.Therefore,this paper analyzes the impact of the rationalization and upgrading of industrial structure in counties of Sichuan Province on the income gap between urban and rural areas from the perspective of industrial structure adjustment,and discusses the development direction and situation of future industries in Sichuan Province.Based on the panel data of counties in Sichuan Province from 2013 to 2019,this paper builds a fixed effect model,and empirically analyzes the relationship between industrial structure adjustment and urban-rural income gap.The research results show that industrial structure adjustment is closely related to urban-rural income gap,and the rationalization of industrial structure has always played a significant role in narrowing urban-rural income gap,that is,the more rational and coordinated the industrial structure,the more convergent the income between urban and rural residents will be.However,in the short term,the role of industrial structure upgrading in narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas is not significant enough,but there is always a negative correlation between industrial structure upgrading and urban-rural income gap,that is,the higher the industrial structure,the smaller the income gap between urban and rural residents,indicating that with the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure in the future,industrial structure upgrading will play a significant role in narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas.At the same time,it is also found that other factors also have different degrees of influence on the income gap between urban and rural areas,such as financial revenue and expenditure structure,Internet access rate,agricultural labor productivity and investment in fixed assets,etc.In addition,by constructing an intermediary effect model,the intermediary effect of regional industrial integration and development in narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas in industrial structure adjustment is tested.Finally,according to the research conclusion,the corresponding policy suggestions are put forward,pointing out that it is extremely urgent to promote the adjustment of county industrial structure and develop county-level industries to narrow the income gap between urban and rural residents in Sichuan Province.At the same time,under the background of rural revitalization strategy,we should actively promote the integration and development of rural primary,secondary and tertiary industries,push the industrial structure of county-level areas towards rationalization and upgrading,increase farmers’ income,narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas,and help rural revitalization.
