| At present, the world is in a great change that has not been seen in a century. The outline of the 14 th Five-Year Plan clearly puts forward the strategic goal of "accelerating digital development and building digital China," and profoundly reveals the significance and key role of accelerating digital transformation and development in grasping the opportunities of the digital era and building digital China.Manufacturing industry is the foundation and pillar of the national economy. The digital transformation of manufacturing industry is the main direction to promote the development of national economy and the construction of manufacturing power.Based on this, the topic of digital transformation has become a hot topic in academia and industry. How to carry out digital transformation and build digital capabilities,so as to realize organizational change, improve operational efficiency and create new value, has become a difficult problem that enterprise managers have to think about. The impact of enterprise digital transformation on internationalization is significant.Digital transformation enables enterprises to achieve smooth data flow of product life cycle, improve the speed of market response, gain customer trust through excellent quality management system, and gain competitive advantage through efficient cost control. These are helpful for enterprises to expand the international market and enhance their international competitiveness.International expansion can help enterprises to obtain more customers, resources, technology and cooperation opportunities, enhance their innovation ability and risk resistance ability, and improve their brand value and social responsibility. This paper believes that the international background and financial background of executives may have a moderating effect on the impact of digital transformation on internationalization.Because executives have an international perspective and financial knowledge, they can better understand the needs, opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in different countries and regions, formulate appropriate strategies and investment plans, and positively regulate the promotion effect of digital transformation on internationalization. Therefore, this paper selects non-financial listed companies in China from2012 to 2020 as the initial research sample. This paper focuses on the promotion of the level of digital transformation of enterprises to the international breadth of enterprises,as well as the moderating effect of the personal characteristics of executives on this process, and empirically analyzes the moderating effect of executives ’ international background and financial background.Based on the perspective of dynamic capability theory, this paper explains the internal mechanism of how digital transformation improves the breadth of enterprise internationalization, and verifies the positive impact of digital transformation on the breadth of enterprise internationalization through empirical analysis. The upper echelons theory and imprinting theory are used to explain and empirically test the moderating effect of executives ’ personal characteristics on this process. The following conclusions are drawn through research : First, digital transformation has a direct positive role in promoting the breadth of enterprise internationalization;second, the international background of executives has a positive moderating effect on this process;thirdly, the financial background of executives has a positive moderating effect on this process;fourth, the moderating effect of executives ’ personal traits is more obvious for enterprises with state-owned property rights;fifth, the moderating effect of executives ’ personal traits is more obvious for enterprises in developed eastern regions than in central and western regions. This paper theoretically and empirically discusses and analyzes how the level of digital transformation of enterprises promotes the improvement of the breadth of internationalization of enterprises, and how the personal characteristics of executives regulate this relationship, which enriches and expands the research contents and methods of digital transformation of enterprises, breadth of internationalization, personal characteristics of executives and other related fields. This paper provides a possible new idea for enterprises to use digital technology to cope with various challenges and opportunities in cross-border operations, expand markets in different countries and improve international competitiveness. This paper also provides some theoretical guidance for enterprises to optimize the allocation of resources, especially the allocation of high-level human resources, cultivate senior management teams with international vision and financial literacy, and promote the development of listed companies. This paper also provides some reference for relevant policy makers to formulate policies and measures that are conducive to promoting the digital transformation and international development of enterprises. |
