It has been nearly ten years since the General Secretary Xi Jinping put forward the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013.In the past ten years,the Belt and Road Initiative has conducted in-depth cooperation with countries along the line in political,economic,cultural and other fields,promoting the flow of production factors in countries along the line,and greatly promoting the economic and social development of countries along the route.Although domestic and foreign scholars have done a lot of research on agricultural trade between China and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative,there has not been sufficient research on the impact of the initiative on the international competitiveness of agricultural trade between countries along the line.First of all,this paper takes the proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative as the research background,combs the relevant research of domestic and foreign scholars on the Belt and Road Initiative and international competitiveness of agricultural trade,and expounds the strategic significance of the Belt and Road Initiative for economic development and agricultural trade of countries along the line.Secondly,on the basis of combing and analyzing the existing literature,this paper puts forward the impact mechanism of the Belt and Road Initiative on agricultural trade of countries along the line,and builds an evaluation system of international competitiveness of agricultural trade based on Porter’s "Diamond Model Theory" and supply and demand theory.Thirdly,based on five sub indicators,this paper analyzes the current situation of import trade and international competitiveness of agricultural products trade of 64 countries along the line,and expounds the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on the development of agricultural products trade and international competitiveness of countries along the Asian,European and African routes.Finally,based on the existing research results of domestic and foreign scholars,this paper decided to use the panel data of 109 countries from 2005 to 2020 to empirically test the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on the international competitiveness of agricultural trade of countries along the line through difference in difference model.At the same time,it conducted benchmark regression analysis on five sub indicators to explore the heterogeneity of the impact of the initiative on the international competitiveness of agricultural trade of countries along the line in terms of geographical distribution.This study shows that the Belt and Road Initiative has a significant positive effect on the improvement of the international competitiveness of agricultural products trade of countries along the line,and has a significant positive impact on countries along West Asia,Eastern Europe,Northern Europe and Central Europe.The research conclusions of this paper can provide reference for further developing the Belt and Road Initiative,promoting regional economic development,and improving the international competitiveness of agricultural trade of countries along the line.
