Study On The Difference Of County Economic Growth And Its Convergence In Western China

Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,and coordinated development among regions has entered a new stage.It is time to strengthen measures to promote the development of the western region to form a new pattern,and further promote the coordinated development of the western region is a new requirement to continue to do well in the development of the western region in the new era.The western region has a vast territory,and the resource endowment and factor structure within the region vary greatly.The problem of unbalanced and inadequate regional development still exists.In recent years,the polarization problem of inter-county economic development has become increasingly prominent.However,county area is the basic space unit with complete economic function and relatively independent operation,and it is the key administrative unit to implement the coordinated development strategy of regions.In view of this,this paper will sink the research perspective to the county dimension.Taking 912 counties in 11 provinces,cities and autonomous regions in western China as research samples,this paper explores the differences and convergence of county economic growth in western China from 2006 to 2020 through normative analysis and empirical analysis,in order to present the convergence of economic growth in western China in the historical period of continuous development of the western region,a major regional strategic initiative.Firstly,the convergence model of benchmark regression is constructed by selecting control variables with certain explanatory ability to economic growth,so as to preliminarily investigate the driving factors of economic growth convergence in western China.Secondly,under the premise of considering spatial correlation,the spatial panel model is intended to incorporate the spatial information of sample data into the convergence analysis of county economic growth in western China.Finally,comparative analysis is made with the regression results of the benchmark convergence model,and the existence,speed and influencing factors of convergence of county economy in western China are investigated comprehensively.The results show that:(1)under the premise of considering the spatial correlation,the estimation results based on the spatial Durbin β convergence model show that there is still a trend of regional and regional convergence of economic growth in the western region,which is consistent with the regression conclusion of the common panel model.(2)After incorporating the spatial information of the sample data into the convergence model,it is found that the convergence rate of the western counties is slower than that of the common panel model.(3)The baseline convergence model and spatial convergence model show that all control variables have certain explanatory ability for county economic growth in western China.Finally,based on the conclusions,relevant policy suggestions are given.
