Research On The Configuration Path Of The Impact Of Regional Innovation Environment On The Performance Of The Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Industry

Global technological and industrial competition has gotten fiercer as a result of the industrial and technological revolutions’ ongoing development.In the ferocious global rivalry,technological innovation is a crucial engine for driving industrial progress.High tech businesses have a significant role in upholding national security,competing on a global scale,and driving high-quality growth.The high-tech industries sector that supports the national economy,cares for public health,and prioritizes technical innovation includes the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector.Prior research has demonstrated the importance of the regional innovation environment in influencing industrial development,which is widely acknowledged by the practical community.However,as China is a huge country with many provinces and abundant resources,it is impossible to generalize about the innovation environment there as a whole.In terms of theory,how do the various elements of regional innovation environment match and interact to affect the development of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry? China’s economy has transitioned from an era of high-speed growth to a stage of high-quality development,the Communist Party of China’s 19 th National Congress declared.How did the configuration path of pharmaceutical industry performance evolve during the two periods before and after the proposal of this important economic statement? There is limited attention to these issues in existing literature,and it is necessary to conduct further research on them.The research focuses on the condition configuration and evolution path of financial performance and innovation performance in the pharmaceutical industry.Based on the resource-based theory and institution-based view,this thesis starts from the three levels of government,market,and industry,and divides the regional innovation environment into seven antecedent variables,namely government funding support,government policy attention,market activity,market openness,industrial economic scale,industrial talent support,and industrial research and development emphasis.This thesis uses financial performance and innovation performance as the outcome variables to measure the success of the pharmaceutical sector more scientifically.Combining the need analysis of conditions and the adequacy analysis of condition configuration,the dynamic QCA analysis approach is utilized to perform research on the panel data of China’s province regions from 2015 to 2019.The results indicate that:(1)During the "pre thesis" period,the market and government levels of the innovation environment are more significant for the pharmaceutical sector’s high-level financial performance;in the "post assertion" period,the market and industry levels are more crucial.The innovation environment at the government and industry levels plays a significant role at the "pre thesis" phase for the pharmaceutical industry’s high-level innovation performance,and the industry level plays a leading role in the "post assertion" period.The analysis results of the performance of the not-high pharmaceutical industry confirm the above conclusions.(2)During the two periods before and after the important economic judgment of the 19 th National Congress was proposed,in the pharmaceutical sector,the configuration of factors that contributed to high performance evolved,with both core factor turning trajectories and core factor dominant trajectories.Market activity always plays a key role in two time periods for the financial performance of the pharmaceutical sector.For innovation performance,the support of industrial talents and the emphasis on industrial research and development have always been the core conditions during the two periods.The study on the relationship between regional innovation environment and pharmaceutical industry performance reveals the configuration path and evolution law of regional innovation environment for achieving high-level pharmaceutical industry performance,providing theoretical guidance and practical assistance for optimizing regional innovation environment.
