This research mainly investingates technological diversification decision from the perspective of Resource-Based View (RBV). Starting from literature review, this paper constructs hypotheses concerning the influence of enterprises resources, absorptive capacity, and dynamic capability on the technological diversification decision. The paper uses manufacturing sectors crosssing the Strait as research sample, and has some empirical findings:(1) Tangible resources are critical influence to manufacturing enterprises crossing the Strait. Tangible resources can help companies achieve performance goal through enhanceing other abilityies. However, other forms of resources cannot have significant model fitness.(2) Enterprise's inoovativeness and tangible resources have direct negative influenc on technological diversification decision. The result is similar to other researchers' finding that less innovative companies tend to diversify their technology. Companies with more resources tend to cultivate in some specific fields, and companies with less resources tend to explore and expand the level of technological field.(3) Tangible resources and absorptive capacity have direct positive influence on enterprise inoovativeness. This indicates the more resource a company has, the more innovative it could be. Absorptive capacity activeates the development of technology and enhances innovation activeties.(4) Absorptive capacity has direct positive influence on technological diversification decision. The stronger abrorptive capacity a company has, the more likely the technology diversified. Companies that want to sustain competetiveness in the dynamic, uncertain environment will strengthen their absorptive capacity, and therefore further encourage technological diversification.(5) Enterprises' operating performance has significant negative relationship with the trend of technology diversification within the investingation periods. Companies with convergent technological fields have better performance, among whitch, large ones tend to remain or minorly converge their technological fields and small ones tend to specify the fields. Furthermore, more number of patent per unit asset concurrent with better performance. In managerial practice, the research gives some advisories that enterprises should apply scientific ways when deciding how to develop their technologies, upgrade their absorptive capacity as main competitive strategy, increase number of patent per unit asset, and etc. Furthermore, the article also discusses the contingent view of technological diversification and not using the binary opposition view. This article contributes not only to the rare research of technological diversification theories, but also using data from the crossing strait that makes the conclusions meet the domestic environment. The article continues on former theorists' output and provides evidences for further researches. The article also pratically applies empirical findings to construct an adaptive nuero-fuzzy inference system that help enterprises to make technological diversification decisions. The decision support system is based on theories and utilizes precursive knowledge as reference database; thus, it is comprehensive, promotive, and mobilezable. Furthermore, the system is extending from the empirical framework that can limit the dominant logic of executives for crucial technology development and as well as enhance the possibility of its applications.
