With the implementation of the policy of "mass entrepreneurship and innovation" in China,entrepreneurship has become the career choice for more and more people.In the research of management science,entrepreneurship has also become a field widely studied by scholars.However,in practice,due to various reasons,such as high risk,high uncertainty and high intensity of starting a business,there are also a few silent quitters.Especially since the outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic in 2020,the market economy has been affected to a certain extent,resulting in many entrepreneurs quitting their business.Some entrepreneurs will choose to be employed by other enterprises for re-employment after quitting the business.However,the difference in job performance of employees with entrepreneurial experience is quite significant.Entrepreneurial experience is a valuable asset,which can help individuals accumulate a large amount of human capital and social capital.If it is used,it will have a positive impact on future work.However,because each entrepreneur’s entrepreneurial experience is different,the imprints of entrepreneurial experience on them is different in depth,and the positive effect of imprints on job performance will also be different.At the same time,in the organizational environment with limited resources,employees need to master the ability to understand and influence others effectively in order to survive better,that is,they need the blessing of political skill,so as to promote the further development of their work.Next,although all employees with entrepreneurial experience have changed from boss to employee,through interviews and observations,it can be found that individuals’ mentality and knowledge transfer ability are different when facing the change.Therefore,there are two questions worthy of further consideration.Among employees with entrepreneurial experience,how does entrepreneurial imprints affect job performance through political skill? Does proactive personality affect job performance?Based on the above practical problems,this study identifies the research object as the individual who has independently or assisted others to create a career,and started a business for more than 3 months,and now works in an enterprise.It explores the mechanism of employees’ entrepreneurial imprints on job performance,and builts a research model of the relationship among entrepreneurial imprints,political skill and job performance.At the same time,based on the reality,each employee has different personality traits,which are closely related to job performance.Therefore,this study introduces the concept of proactive personality to study its moderating role in the relationship between entrepreneurial imprints and political skill.Firstly,based on the imprinting theory and related entrepreneurial research,this study measures entrepreneurial imprints from four dimensions,namely,entrepreneurial duration,venture capital participation,venture management participation and the time after the end of entrepreneurship,and investigates the influence of the four dimensions on job performance and its internal mechanism,and puts forward 24 research hypotheses on the relationship between variables.Then,using the maturity scale at home and abroad for reference to design the questionnaire,taking the employees with entrepreneurial experience as the research object,and finally obtaining 231 valid questionnaires.Finally,SPSS 24.0 and Amos 25.0 are used to analyze the sample data to test the research hypothesis,and the empirical results are discussed.Through theoretical exploration and empirical test,the main findings are as follows:(1)The three dimensions of entrepreneurial imprinting,the duration of entrepreneurship,venture capital participation and venture management participation have significant positive effects on job performance,while the time after the end of entrepreneurship has significant negative effects on job performance.(2)Political skill has a mediating effect between entrepreneurial imprints and job performance.Political skill has the role of intermediary among the four measurement dimensions of entrepreneurial imprints and job performance.(3)Proactive personality plays a moderating role in the path of entrepreneurial imprints and political skill.Specifically,proactive personality positively regulates the relationship between employees’ previous entrepreneurial duration,venture capital participation and political skill,and negatively regulates the relationship between the time after the end of entrepreneurship and political skill.This study puts forward four dimensions of entrepreneurial imprints,examines the relationship between entrepreneurial imprints and job performance and supplies a theoretical basis for future research..In addition,the study puts forward some practical management enlightenment.First,due to the high risk and uncertainty of entrepreneurship,many people are afraid of starting a business,and many people are afraid of failure.This study believes that individual talents should have a correct understanding of the value of entrepreneurial experience and make reasonable entrepreneurial choices or career planning;secondly,for employers,when recruiting employees with entrepreneurial experience,they not only should specifically examine their entrepreneurial process,the examination of job seekers’ political skill and proactive personality cannot be ignored.They will help improve job seekers’ future job performance and promote organizational development.Third,future research needs to pay more attention to this group that returns to the workplace after starting a business,and pay attention to its development status,so as to help it play a greater value and potential in the workplace.This study has the following two innovations.First,from the perspective of entrepreneurial branding,it analyzes the reasons for the differences of employees’ job performance with entrepreneurial experience,combs and summarizes entrepreneurial research and branding theory,and enriches the theoretical connotation and research of entrepreneurial branding.Secondly,the entrepreneurial brand,political skills,job performance and initiative personality are included in the research framework,which covers the relationship between the current behavior of this group and its past experience,explains the process of the previous entrepreneurial experience influencing the current job performance,and provides new ideas for follow-up research.It is hoped that the relevant conclusions of this study can provide reference for the follow-up related research of this group returning to the workplace after the end of entrepreneurship. |
