Abstract/Summary:
In recent years,China’s economic growth has slowed down significantly under the influence of factors such as diminishing demographic dividend and resource and environmental constraints. How to achieve sustainable and high-quality economic growth has become an important goal of China at present and in the future.High-tech industries, which are knowledge-intensive industries with low resource consumption and high valueadded products, are the main driving force for high-quality economic development at the current stage. At present,high-tech industries in our country are mainly represented by agglomeration development, which promotes the integration of innovative resources within and between high-tech industries, effectively improves the production efficiency and competitiveness of high-tech industries, and is an important mode that can effectively promote regional and national economic development. Therefore, how to promote the hightech industrial agglomeration has become the focus of our current attention. As the carrier of information transmission, information infrastructure can not only promote the agglomeration to exchange information with market players in a timely manner with the help of information infrastructure, reduce the asymmetry of information, but also strengthen the information feedback among various players in the high-tech industry cluster area,so as to promote the high-tech industry cluster. Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical value to study the effect of information infrastructure construction on high-tech industrial agglomeration in promoting the development of high-tech industries, improving national competitiveness and realizing regional economic growth. In this paper, the Potter model is used to study the influencing factors of high-tech industry agglomeration, and the direct and indirect effects of information infrastructure development on high-tech industry agglomeration, regional and industrial heterogeneity characteristics and spatial spillover effects are further analyzed theoretically. Then, based on the panel data of 30 provinces from 2010 to 2020,core variables are measured using location entropy and entropy method. On this basis, the fixed effects model, multiple intermediary effects model, grouping regression and spatial Dubin model are used to empirically test the direct and indirect effects, heterogeneity characteristics and spatial spillover effects of information infrastructure development on high-tech industrial agglomeration. At the same time, instrumental variable method and core variable replacement methods were used to verify the robustness of the model to ensure that the empirical results were more reliable. The conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)At present, both the development level of information infrastructure and the agglomeration level of high-tech industries are on the rise.(2)The development of information infrastructure, the core explanatory variable of this study, can significantly promote the development of high-tech industrial agglomeration;Among the control variables, fixed asset investment,opening-up degree, transportation infrastructure and enterprise scale can also significantly promote the high-tech industry agglomeration, while the consumer level has a certain inhibitory effect on the high-tech industry agglomeration.(3)Information infrastructure can not only directly promote hightech industry agglomeration by improving the overall response speed of agglomeration to market demands, but also indirectly promote high-tech industry agglomeration by improving the level of government policy support, education level of colleges and universities, technical level of colleges and research institutions, and enterprise cooperation level.(4)The promoting effect of information infrastructure on high-tech industrial agglomeration presents obvious regional and industrial heterogeneity characteristics.(5)The development of information infrastructure in a certain region can not only play a positive role in the clustering of high-tech industries in the region, but also drive the clustering of high-tech industries in the neighboring region; The high-tech industry cluster between neighboring regions has a positive spillover effect, that is to say,the improvement of the high-tech industry cluster level in a region will play a certain role in promoting the high-tech industry cluster in its neighboring region. Finally,on the basis of the above research conclusions, combined with the current development situation of China,we vigorously promote the construction of information infrastructure, improve the level of policy support and improve the efficiency and function of financial institutions such as banks,so as to ensure that the promoting effect of information infrastructure development on high-tech industrial agglomeration is fully played.
