Since reform and opening up,China’s manufacturing industry has grown rapidly due to low labor costs and strong support form the government.in 2022,China’s manufacturing industry ranked first in the world for the 12 th consecutive year.however,China’s core manufacturing technologies are still exposed to other countries and are still located in low value-added links in the global value chain system,China’s core manufacturing technologies are still exposed to other countries and are currently positioned as a low value-added link in the global value chain system. With the further development of economic globalization and regional integration, tariffs among countries have been continuously reduced, and it is no longer the main factor hindering the development of international trade.However,non-tariff barriers, the trade inconvenience of trading partners, and the China-Us trade friction repeatedly provoked by the United States in recent years have hindered the development of China’s manufacturing foreign trade. Thanks to the "Belt and Road" initiative and the establishment of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, trade relations between China and ASEAN countries have become increasingly close, and ASEAN is already China’s largest trading partner. However, the disparity in the level of economic development within the ASEAN countries, the phenomenon of imperfect infrastructure is serious, and the level of trade facilitation varies, these development imbalances are hindering the improvement of the domestic added value of China’s manufacturing exports. In view of this, the following three aspects are studied in this paper:This paper collates the theoretical basis of trade facilitation affecting domestic value added of exports, and then analyzes the mechanism of trade facilitation affecting domestic value added of exports.Trade facilitation further affects manufacturing domestic value added of exports mainly through the technology spillover effect, production cost saving effect and competition effect generated by affecting the price and quality of intermediate goods. The current situation of trade facilitation in ASEAN countries is analyzed, followed by the establishment of a trade facilitation evaluation system, and the customs environment, infrastructure and logistics, regulatory environment, and finance and e-commerce are selected to measure the level of trade facilitation in China and ASEAN countries. Then, based on the WWZ total trade accounting method, the change of total domestic value added of China’s manufacturing exports to ASEAN countries and the change of domestic value added of exports by different countries and manufacturing sub-sectors are calculated. In the empirical part, panel data model is established to analyze the relationship between ASEAN trade facilitation level and the domestic value-added of China’s manufacturing exports,it is found that:The level of trade facilitation has a significant promoting effect on the domestic value added of manufacturing exports, and the indicators of trade facilitation also have a positive promoting effect on the domestic value added of manufacturing exports, and the level of trade facilitation has the most obvious promoting effect on the domestic value added of middle and high technology manufacturing exports. Finally, the previous research is summarized, and from the perspective of trade facilitation and Chinese manufacturing industry, the relevant suggestions to improve the domestic value added of Chinese manufacturing export are put forward. |
