| Due to the development of the digital economy, its place in the economy is becoming increasingly prominent. The ease of information has led to a significant reduction in transaction costs, driving significant changes in traditional trade methods.Falling "face-toface" transaction costs,an increase in tradable instruments, and shifts in trade patterns will have a significant impact on cross-border trade. However, with the rapid development of digital service trade, new digital service barriers have also emerged, which can not only effectively protect domestic industries against foreign ideological encroachment, but also maintain national information security. Therefore,in the face of the current digital economy situation, all countries should take active measures to strengthen the management of digital service trade, improve relevant laws and regulations, and strengthen international negotiations to enhance the strategic position of the digital economy. This paper discusses the impact of the digital economy on barriers to trade in digital services through the analysis of digital economy data from 17 exporting countries and 50 importing countries from 2012 to 2021.We used the OLS static regression model and the System 2SLS model for empirical analysis.Through in-depth study of various factors affecting barriers to trade in digital services,we can better understand the current level of international barriers to trade in digital services and put forward effective policy suggestions for further promoting the development of the international digital economy. In addition, these studies can also put forward important suggestions for the construction of China’s digital economy. This paper finds that, first, digital service trade barriers are affected by the development level of digital economy of both sides.Secondly, the development level of digital economy in importing countries can significantly reduce domestic barriers to trade in digital services, which is mainly caused by the increase of tradable varieties, the breaking of time and space restrictions in the development of digital economy, the improvement of international trade mechanism and the lowering of trade barriers for enterprises and other factors.Third, the development level of the digital economy in the exporting country has an enhanced effect on the digital service trade barriers in the importing country, mainly for the following reasons:protecting the domestic industry, resisting the invasion of foreign ideology, and maintaining national information security. Therefore, all countries should rationally view barriers to trade in digital services on the basis of reasonably protecting their own information security, improve the digital trade environment with more open trade policies, and promote the full integration and development of the digital economy by strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade in digital services. |
