In the context of the rapid development of the global economy and changes in the innovation environment,the diversification and complication of the market economy are becoming more and more obvious,and disruptive innovation brings new ideas for enterprises to deal with external changes and national development,and has gradually become the focus of widespread attention in academia and business circles.As an important bridge connecting the external environment and corporate strategy,The entrepreneurial cognition about the impact of external changes profoundly influence the adjustment of corporate innovation strategies.Existing research has confirmed the vital role of managerial cognition in the adjustment of corporate innovation strategy,and also emphasized the positive impact of managerial initiative in disruptive innovation,but the exiting research has not paid enough attention to it both at home and abroad.especially with external change becoming the norm,there is a lack of research on how entrepreneurs can respond to it and capitalize on disruptive innovations.To this end,based on the perspectives of efficiency-oriented and socialpolitical,this study constructs the framework of “Expectation of external change results—Adjustment of learning behaviors—Disruptive innovation”.From the aspect of individual adjustment of ambidextrous learning behavior,we explore the impact mechanism of entrepreneurs’ expectations of external change results on disruptive innovation of enterprises,and to collect questionnaire data for empirical test with Chinese manufacturing enterprises as the sample object.This study results show that there are significant differences in the impact of external change outcome expectations on entrepreneurial ambidextrous learning behavior adjustment.Specifically,the positive performance expectations of external changes have a direct positive effect on exploration strengthening;the negative performance expectations of external change has a direct positive effect on exploitation strengthening;the image benefit expectations of external change has a direct positive effect on exploration strengthening;the image risk expectations of external change has a direct positive effect on exploitation strengthening.In addition,exploration strengthening plays a mediating effect between image gain expectations of external change and introverted disruptive innovation,and between positive performance expectations of external change and introverted disruptive innovation,while exploitation strengthening plays a mediating role between image risk expectations of external change and externally disruptive innovation,and between negative performance expectations of external change and externally disruptive innovation.The conclusions of this study provide a useful analytical framework for understanding how entrepreneurs initiate disruptive innovations in uncertain situations,and advance the theoretical development of the relationship between managers’ cognition and firm innovation.
