In recent years,the relationship between board diversity and corporate social responsibility has become an increasingly hotly debated topic as the world economy has progressed and companies have taken on more and more social responsibility.Meanwhile,China has held several board diversity forums to encourage companies to value and emphasize board diversity.Due to the different nature,regulatory and cultural aspects and institutional contexts of corporate governance in each country,the governance attributes of companies,i.e.board diversity,can make a difference to CSR.Therefore,the study of board diversity in emerging countries is crucial.Focusing on this,this thesis selects a sample of listed companies from January 1,2010 to December 31,2020 and analyzes the relationship between five different board diversity dimension indicators and CSR score performance using the OLS and 2SLS methods.The findings of this thesis are as follows:first,there is a significant positive relationship between board gender diversity and CSR.When there are more women on the board,companies will be more willing to be socially responsible.Second,there is a significant positive relationship between board age diversity and corporate social responsibility.Third,after controlling for the endogeneity of the variables,there is a significant positive relationship between board experience diversity and corporate social responsibility.Fourth,there is a significant positive relationship between board education diversity and corporate social responsibility.Fifth,there is a significant positive relationship between board professional diversity and CSR.Sixth,the mandatory departure of official sole directors has a significant weakening inhibitory effect on the impact relationship between board diversity and corporate social responsibility.This thesis not only makes up for the richness of related studies to a certain extent,but also strengthens the study of multidimensional diversity of the board of directors,which is important for optimizing the configuration of board members and appropriately increasing board diversity.This thesis gave pertinent and reasonable recommendations based on the findings of existing studies.Companies should pay due attention to the role of women on the board of directors,actively encourage female elites to enter the business world,and increase the gender diversity of the board.Companies should give due consideration to the individual characteristics of board diversity and appoint people from multiple perspectives:age,educational background,expertise and experience.Different companies should focus on the strength of board diversity and optimize the allocation of board members according to their own corporate characteristics,so as to better play the role of the board in corporate governance.
