For a long time, economic development and income growth have been the goals that every country needs to achieve.China has also been actively looking for effective ways to realize the combination of economic development and income growth. However,in recent years, due to the rapid development of China’s economy and the encouragement of "some people get rich first and get rich first and then get rich",the income of residents in rural areas is far lower than that in urban areas. At present,China is in an important period of building a well-off society in an all-round way and realizing common prosperity. With the continuous promotion of the Rural Revitalization Strategy, how to consolidate the achievements of poverty eradication, realize the continuous growth of farmers’ income and alleviate the excessive income gap between urban and rural areas has become the consensus of the whole society. The development of transportation infrastructure has played an indispensable role in China’s rapid development. Many experts believe that the construction of transportation infrastructure and has played a positive role in promoting China’s economic development, but some scholars hold the opposite opinion: the construction and improvement of transportation infrastructure will promote the flow of resource elements to some central cities, thus having a negative impact on the economy of resource outflow areas. However, the further research on the income growth effect of transportation infrastructure improvement is insufficient, which can be further studied. Therefore,by combing and summarizing the existing research status of scholars at home and abroad, and on the basis of clarifying the relevant concepts of transportation infrastructure and farmers’ income growth, this paper establishes a theoretical model of the impact of transportation infrastructure on rural residents’ income growth by using the relevant theories of dual structure theory, solo economic growth model and new economic geography, and comes to the conclusion that the improvement of transportation infrastructure will directly Indirectly affect the income growth of rural residents. In analyzing how the improvement of transportation infrastructure affects the growth of farmers’ income, from the perspective of spatial spillover, this paper uses the spatial econometric model to empirically test the effect of transportation infrastructure on the growth of rural residents’ income. It is found that highway transportation infrastructure can significantly promote the growth of rural residents’ income, and highway transportation infrastructure can significantly inhibit the income gap between urban and rural areas; There is a significant positive correlation between the increase of government financial support, economic development level and consumption level and the expansion of the proportion of the added value of the primary industry and the growth of rural residents,a significant negative correlation between the increase of government financial support and economic development level and the expansion of the proportion of the added value of the primary industry and the income gap between urban and rural areas, and an inverse relationship between the investment in education and the income growth of rural residents,But it is positively correlated with the income gap between urban and rural areas. The regional regression results show that there are significant regional differences in the impact of the improvement of transportation infrastructure and the main control variables on the income growth of rural residents. For cities located in urban agglomerations with developed transportation network and close economic ties, the improvement of transportation infrastructure can significantly promote the income growth of rural residents. |
