| As an important part of national economy,manufacturing industry plays an irreplaceable role in promoting economic development and participating in international competition.In recent years,China has put forward the "in-depth implementation of manufacturing power strategy" to promote the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.However,with the gradual disappearance of demographic dividend and increasingly fierce international competition,Chinese manufacturing industry is still faced with the predicament of "low-end lock".Therefore,the development of the manufacturing industry needs to shift to the total factor productivity-driven growth model relying on technological progress.Digital trade,as the product of the deep integration of digital technology and international trade,promotes the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry through trade complementary effect and trade competition effect in the international market due to the knowledge spillover brought by the progress of digital technology,guides the rational allocation of resources,and brings new opportunities to fundamentally solve the problem of slow development of manufacturing industry.This paper takes 28 provinces and municipalities(autonomous regions)as the research object,and selects 8 years’ panel data from 2013 to 2020 as the research basis.Firstly,from the theoretical part,this paper deeply analyzes the influence mechanism of digital trade development on the promoting effect of total factor productivity of China’s manufacturing industry,and quantitatively analyzes the development status of digital trade and manufacturing industry combined with chart data.On this basis,the digital trade development level index is constructed,and the manufacturing total factor productivity index is calculated.Secondly,the fixed effect model is used to empirically test the direct mechanism of digital trade in promoting the total factor productivity of China’s manufacturing industry.Finally,the number of websites was used to replace the core explanatory variables for robust regression and regional heterogeneity analysis was conducted.The results show that:(1)the development level of digital trade in our country presents a steadily increasing trend,but there are great differences between regions,presenting a development pattern of "strong east west,weak south north".(2)The development level of digital trade has a positive promoting effect on the total factor productivity index of China’s manufacturing industry as a whole,and this positive effect is mainly caused by technological progress.(3)The development level of digital trade has a significant promoting effect on the technical progress of the decomposition item of China’s manufacturing total factor productivity index,but has a negative effect on the technical efficiency.Finally,according to the research results,countermeasures and suggestions are put forward at the government level from implementing cost reduction and burden reduction in manufacturing industry,improving the digital trade system,strengthening the construction of digital infrastructure,actively participating in the formulation of international digital trade rules,etc.At the enterprise level,countermeasures and suggestions are put forward from the aspects of enhancing core competitiveness,improving the technical efficiency of digital trade and expanding the application scope of digital trade trading platform. |
