The biopharmaceutical industry is one of the national strategic emerging industries and an important support for future economic and social development.Innovation is the core of the biopharmaceutical enterprise strategy and the key to sustainable development.Since the implementation of policy and institutional reforms in the biopharmaceutical industry,generic drugs are required to pass consistency evaluation,and the quality standards of drugs have also been improved accordingly.The phenomenon of homogenization competition and low-level repetition in the domestic generic drug market has also improved.Thanks to the policy reform of the pharmaceutical industry,a large number of start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises have emerged in China,taking the development of innovative drugs as their strategic goal.Domestic veteran biopharmaceutical enterprises have also started to transform from producing generic drugs to developing innovative drugs.However,the biopharmaceutical industry has the characteristics of high technology,high input,high risk and long cycle,and it is not easy to develop technological innovation capabilities.China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises face many difficulties and challenges in the process of innovation and development.Problems such as insufficient funds,high R&D investment,uncontrollable risks,talent shortage,weak innovation ability and unsatisfactory innovation effect seriously restrict the innovation efficiency and quality of China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises.Therefore,in order to break through these difficulties,international strategic alliance has become an important way for China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises to achieve technological innovation and development.Many start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises in China have been carrying out international strategic alliance cooperation since their establishment,aiming to enhance their technological innovation ability and product commercialization ability.Based on this,this paper aims to explore a specific research question: how do China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises achieve technological innovation and development through international strategic alliance? What are the motivations for their international strategic alliance? To this end,this paper will focus on analyzing their international strategic alliance motivations and innovation paths.The research on this question will be of great significance for the technological innovation and development of China’s biopharmaceutical industry.This paper takes three start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises as samples,adopts the case study method,and follows the logic and method of procedural grounded theory.According to the research steps of“data collection,open coding,axial coding,selective coding,and theory construction”,it explores how China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises achieve technological innovation and development through international strategic alliance,and what are the motivations for their international strategic alliance.In the process of research,the coding technique of grounded theory is used to code and process the case data.In the open coding stage,38 sub-categories are extracted,and they are obtained according to the analysis logic of “condition→action→result” in the paradigm model of axial coding.There are 9 main categories: cross-border division of labor,open innovation alliance,global strategic layout,market expansion,complex industrial environment,technology acquisition,innovation development,leader cognition,and fund acquisition.Among them,“ leader cognition ” is the key influencing factor for implementing different innovation strategies,and it is the core category that integrates all case data and dominates all other categories.Further,according to the logic and method of procedural grounded theory,the story line is sorted out,and through selective coding,a “ theoretical model of international strategic alliance motivation and innovation path of China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises ” is constructed.The research finds that the motivation for international strategic alliance of China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises is to acquire technology,funds and market,so as to achieve better innovation development of enterprises.The motivation for international strategic alliance of China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises can be summarized as “ market-oriented ”,“technology-oriented” and “resource-oriented”.Through in-depth research and analysis,we finally obtained the innovation path of international strategic alliance of China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises: building an open innovation alliance network,building a global innovation platform and system,and building a self-researched innovation technology platform and system.This paper obtains various research findings from the “research on international strategic alliance motivation and innovation path of China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises ”.It makes some practical and theoretical contributions to the innovation development of China’s start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises,and puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.It provides a basis for future research and management discussion in this field.Based on the research method of proceduralised grounded theory,this paper constructs a “theoretical model of the innovation path and motivation of International strategic alliances of Chinese start-up biopharmaceutical companies ”.The research focuses on Chinese start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises,and analyzes their technological innovation development from the perspective of international strategic alliances.The research focuses on the motives and innovation paths of international strategic alliances of Chinese start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises,and reveals the cooperation strategies and innovation modes of Chinese start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises in different market environments.The image deeply analyzes the strategic path of Chinese start-up biopharmaceutical enterprises to achieve technological innovation and development,and provides a possible perspective for subsequent detailed exploration of the theory. |
