As an important tool for technological innovation in Chinese enterprises, equity incentives have played a crucial role in achieving technology catch-up and innovation performance.Due to the complexity and variety of the external environment,as well as the long-term and comprehensive nature of strategy goals,single-stage equity incentives alone may not be adequate to achieve strategic goals. As a result, continuous equity incentives are required to promote innovation performance. However, most of existing research on equity incentives assumes that consecutive stages of equity incentives are independent of each other, ignoring the mutual impact and inherent synergies among them.In addition, the effect of continuous equity incentives on innovation performance has also received scant attention from researchers using long-term dynamic theory. Therefore, this study challenges the prior assumption of independence between continuous equity incentives through a strategic lens, and applies the resource-based view theory to the context of continuous equity incentives to build a mechanism model for innovation performance.Through a literature review, the study establishes the intrinsic relationships between strategic orientation, continuous equity incentives,resource-focused action, and innovation performance,Through a literature review, this study establishes the intrinsic relationships between strategic orientation, continuous equity incentives, resource action, and innovation performance, summarizes the characteristics and drives of continuous equity incentives, constructs a theoretical model based on the transmission path of "strategic orientation-continuous equity incentives-resource action-innovation performance," and employs resource-based view theory as a research framework. This study selects UFIDA Network as the case enterprise after considering a variety of factors, including the clarity of the strategy, the number of equity incentives, the continuity of equity incentives, and the matching degree between equity incentive timing and resource-focused action timing.Following UFIDA Network’s implementation of equity incentives, the whole period is divided into three distinct stages of resource action—resource assembly, resource arrangement, and resource coordination—and provides an explanation of how the organization builds a resource combination, bundles resources to form capabilities, and creates value by employing those capabilities,as well as the specific path to achieving innovation performance,at each stages. This study finds that under the strategic orientation, continuous equity incentives will lead senior management through the evolution process of "resource assembly-resource arrangement-resource coordination" in resource-focused action, and that the resource combination and capability construction in resource-focused action contribute to innovation performance. In addition, with the implementation of consecutive equity incentives, the innovation performance will undergo a transformation from "utilization innovation before incentives-exploratory innovation-utilization innovation and exploratory innovation coexist." This study enriches various resource-focused action models and innovation performance measurement techniques, providing theoretical guidance for enterprises to achieve innovation performance through continuous equity incentives, and for technology-innovative enterprises to encourage executives to take effective resource-focused action to enhance innovation performance provides suggestions, which has a certain practical significance.
