The global value chain status of China’s manufacturing industry represents the development level of China’s manufacturing industry in the world, and is an important indicator of the transformation from a Manufacturing plant to a manufacturing power in China. So it is of great significance to study the status of the global value chain of China’s manufacturing industry to the high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry.Based on the theory of "geographical dual economy",it can be seen that in the development of inter-regional trade in China, the impact of inter-regional trade on the status of China’s manufacturing global value chain includes polarization effect and diffusion effect. When China’s inter-regional trade is in the early stage of development, the polarization effect of inter-regional trade affecting the status of China’s manufacturing global value chain is greater than the diffusion effect,at this time, the development of inter-regional trade will significantly promote the upgrade of the global value chain status of China’s manufacturing industry of the developed, but it may not necessarily promote the upgrade of the status of China’s overall manufacturing global value chain;with the further development of inter-regional trade, the diffusion effect of inter-regional trade affecting the status of China’s manufacturing global value chain is greater than the polarization effect. At this time, the development of inter-regional trade will promote the upgrade of China’s overall manufacturing global value chain status. Therefore, verifying the impact effect of inter-regional trade on the global value chain of China’s manufacturing industry has important enlightenment for China to achieve the climbing of the global value chain of manufacturing under the "double cycle" pattern. This paper analyzes the pattern of China’s inter-regional trade based on the data of China’s Inter-regional railway trade flow from 2003 to 2018,and analyzes the status of China’s manufacturing industry in the global value chain based on the measurement results of manufacturing export technology complexity of 29 provinces, autonomous regions and cities in China from 2003 to 2018.Theoretically,from the perspective of factor allocation effect From the three aspects of technology spillover effect and competition forcing effect, this paper analyzes the mechanism of the impact of domestic inter-regional trade on China’s manufacturing global value chain status, and empirically analyzes the impact of domestic inter-regional trade on China’s manufacturing global value chain status from the perspectives of domestic inter-regional inflow and inter-regional outflow. The results of the study found that:(1)China has roughly formed an inter-regional trade pattern dominated by the inflow of eastern provinces and the outflow of central provinces, with the coordinated participation of western provinces and northeast provinces. At the same time, the status of China’s manufacturing global value chain shows a gradient pattern from coastal to inland, and there is a certain gap between the status of manufacturing global value chain in Western and eastern provinces;(2)At present, the diffusion effect of inter-regional trade affecting the status of China’s manufacturing global value chain is greater than the polarization effect.Inter-regional trade has significantly promoted the upgrade of the status of China’s overall manufacturing global value chain, and inter-regional import trade has a greater role in promoting the status of China’s manufacturing global value chain than inter-regional export trade;(3)The impact of inter-regional trade on the global value chain status of manufacturing in developed regions is not significant, but inter-regional trade has a significant role in promoting the status of the global value chain of manufacturing in underdeveloped regions, especially inter-regional import trade. This shows that improving the status of manufacturing industry in underdeveloped areas in China in the global value chain is the key for China’s manufacturing industry to achieve the rising status of the global value chain. |
