| Since the founding of New China,especially since the implementation of the policy of reform and opening-up,China has made great achievements in various fields of economic and social development.As socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,the main contradictions in our society have changed,among them,the unbalanced development of urban and rural areas,especially the income gap between urban and rural residence,is the key problem facing the sustainable transformation and upgrading of Chinese society and the integrated development of urban and rural areas.In recent years,the strategy of "Internet plus" has risen to the national strategy with the acceleration of information technology in China,the new business model represented by ecommerce has become a new driving force for the economic growth,urban-rural interaction,life of urban and rural residents and national income.In addition,the gradual penetration of e-commerce in rural areas has brought new opportunities for rural revitalization and income growth,that provides new possibilities for improving the income gap between urban and rural residents.Consequently,based on the perspective of urban-rural interaction,investigating the specific impact of e-commerce development on the income gap between urban and rural residents deeply,that has important theoretical and practical significance for improving urban-rural relations,reducing the income gap between urban and rural residents,and realizing urban-rural integrated development.Firstly,this paper combed the relevant literature on the impact of e-commerce development and on the changes of urban-rural income gap and its influencing factors.Secondly,further discussed the relationship between e-commerce development and the change of income gap between urban and rural residents from the theoretical level,and explained the mechanism of e-commerce development on the change of income gap between urban and rural residents.Next,the research analyzed the current situation and trend of e-commerce development,as well as the change law of the income gap between urban and rural residents.Furthermore,the paper used the panel data of 31 provinces(municipalities and autonomous regions)from 2010 to 2019 that empirically proved the specific impact of e-commerce development on the change of income gap between urban and rural residents by developing the measurement model.The empirical results show that:(1)In general,there is a negative correlation between the development of e-commerce and the income gap between urban and rural residents that the income gap between urban and rural residents in China shows a significant narrowing trend with the rapid development of e-commerce;(2)There are phased differences in the impact of e-commerce development on the income gap between urban and rural residents.Before2014,the impact of e-commerce development on narrowing the income gap between urban and rural residents is not obvious,however the impact is more significant after 2014;(3)The impact of ecommerce development on the narrowing of the income gap between urban and rural residents also has obvious regional differences,which has the greatest impact on the central area,followed by the west,and the weakest in east.Subsequently,this study accorded to the results of empirical analysis to select PDD e-commerce platform and Taobao village in Cao County as cases to further discuss the impact of e-commerce development on the income gap between urban and rural residents.At the end of the research,relevant policy recommendations are put forward in view of the research conclusions to promote the development of e-commerce in an orderly manner,which aim at narrower the income gap between urban and rural residents:(1)Improve the system of policies and regulations,perfect the conditions for the common development of urban and rural e-commerce;(2)Promote urban-rural information interaction and improve the integrated e-commerce service system;(3)Promote the interaction between urban and rural industries,stimulate the development vitality of rural e-commerce;(4)Promote the interaction between urban and rural education,strengthen the training of rural e-commerce talents;(5)Promote urban-rural cultural interaction and improve rural residents’ learning and cognitive ability. |
