In recent years,China’s marine economy has maintained steady growth,its industrial structure has been constantly optimized,and emerging industries have grown rapidly,promoting high-quality development of the national economy.Pelagic squid fishing is an important part of China’s pelagic fishery and one of the pillar industries of ocean fishery.With the rapid increase of the world’s population and the decline of global fisheries stocks,the time for comprehensive regulation of high seas fisheries has come.Combined with the development strategy of China’s deep-sea fishery industry,it is extremely urgent to carry out research on the production and trade of squid and cuttlefish and adjust export pricing strategy.Therefore,this paper takes squid and cuttlefish products as the research object,discusses the contribution of China’s squid and cuttlefish export changes from multiple perspectives,and investigates the influencing factors of export price determination.Firstly,this paper introduces the export status of squid and cuttlefish in China from the aspects of export product structure,market structure and market structure of main export countries,expounds the export trade mechanism,and establishes the analysis framework of the influencing factors of export fluctuation and price decision.Secondly,using the modified constant market share(CMS)model,on the basis of data matching and pre-processing,the export changes of squid and cuttlefish products as the entry point.Using the export data of squid and cuttlefish in China and the world from 2012 to 2020,this paper studies the influencing factors of the export fluctuation of Squid and cuttlefish in China from four levels: The first level investigates the influence degree of market size on the export of squid and cuttlefish in the context of international trade;In the second level,the sensitivity of Chinese squid and cuttlefish to changes in product structure and market structure was investigated.The third level examines the contribution of product competitiveness effect and market competitiveness effect to squid and cuttlefish export.Secondly,by taking the factors influencing the decision of the export price of squid and cuttlefish products as the entry point,the descriptive statistical analysis of the trend of the export price of squid and cuttlefish in China and the change of market demand is made by using the collected data.According to the analysis results,the factors influencing the export price of squid and cuttlefish in China are analyzed from the perspectives of market demand and competition.Indicators are GDP per capita of target market,population of target market,herfindahl index(HHI)of target market,competitor price and distance respectively.The following conclusions are drawn :(1)Market size effect is the main factor influencing the fluctuation of squid and cuttlefish export in China;China’s squid and cuttlefish export market is highly concentrated,very dependent on the international market demand,poor risk resistance.(2)Although the structure of China’s squid and cuttlefish export trade is gradually improving,the product structure effect has been in a positive driving effect,but the contribution of the structure effect to the export growth is still small,the export structure needs to be adjusted.(3)The contribution of competitiveness effect to China’s export growth is always lower than expected,and the actual transformation of competitiveness to the export growth of major trade categories is not obvious;Whether in terms of market or product,China’s external competitiveness is difficult to translate into actual export growth.(4)The direction of population change in the target country is consistent with the direction of export price change,but the influence degree is small;The quality of Chinese squid and cuttlefish products belongs to the middle and low-end products in international trade.As consumers’ income increases,they invest more capital into higherquality products,leading to the reverse change of the export price of Chinese squid and cuttlefish with the change of per capita GDP.(5)The export prices of squid and cuttlefish from China are more affected by competitors’ prices than by the market structure of target countries.The herfindahl index of the target country has no significant effect on export prices.In order to improve the export competitiveness and pricing ability of Chinese squid and cuttlefish,this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions from five aspects.(1)Improve product quality,form demand-oriented export strategy,actively guide and integrate the development of intensive processing industry on land,speed up research on shipboard processing technology,and formulate reasonable labor incentive strategy.Strictly control the classification of products and encourage enterprises to take the road of high-quality development.(2)Adjust the product structure,enrich the product level,get rid of the traditional development mode of relying on the sale of raw materials,and tap the benefits and output value from the industrial chain.Improve the production capacity of deep processing products,develop new types of product export forms,form high,medium and low product structure of different levels of product series,to meet the needs of different export markets.(3)Carry out targeted trade activities according to the consumer demand characteristics of market countries as well as their own product structure and quality,explore export possibilities to other countries,and explore potential markets such as the Philippines and Malaysia.In severe trade fluctuations,exports to domestic sales is also a more realistic choice.(4)Establish an effective price information transmission mechanism,a government-enterprise joint data collection platform for ocean-going product trade and an enterprise export price exchange system to avoid foreign trade losses caused by lagging information.Implement more perfect and stricter measures to control export prices,and avoid blind or copycat pricing.(5)Continue to strengthen international fishery cooperation,strive for more rights and interests for foreign trade enterprises in bilateral talks and meetings of regional fishery organizations,strive for export pricing rights and remove technical barriers to trade. |
