Xi Jinping’s Important Discussion On Food Security

Food security is a fundamental issue related to the survival of mankind,which profoundly affects the evolution of the international political and economic pattern and has a bearing on the well-being of the people of all countries in the world.At present,the international situation continues to change in a complex manner,China’s external security environment is facing many challenges,and the issue of food security is a topic of the times that China must answer to safeguard national security.Since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core has made food security the top priority in governing the country,put forward a new concept of food security,established a national food security strategy,and embarked on a road of food security with Chinese characteristics.Comrade Xi Jinping made a series of important speeches around food security,forming Xi Jinping’s important exposition on food security.This paper is divided into five parts,the first part mainly analyzes the research status,meaning methods,writing ideas and related concept definitions.The second part mainly examines the background of the formation of Xi Jinping’s important exposition on food security,mainly distills the food security thinking of Marxist classic writers,leaders of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China before the 18 th National Congress,and the food security ideology in China’s excellent traditional culture;examines the international background,mainly from the three aspects of the worsening trend of global hunger,the continuous increase in the risk of the industrial chain of grain development,and the increasingly obvious impact of climate change on grain production;and analyzes the domestic background.It is mainly carried out from three aspects: rigid growth in grain consumption demand,increasingly obvious hard constraints on grain production,and serious food waste and post-harvest losses of grain.The third part sorts out the main contents of this important exposition: from the perspective of important position,food security is the most important task in governing the country;from the perspective of strategic priorities,adhere to the new concept of food security;from the perspective of basic principles,implement the national food security strategy for the new era;and from the perspective of the actual path,take the road of food security with Chinese characteristics.Part IV summarizes the basic characteristics of this important exposition,namely,the people’s nature,the epochal nature,and the practical nature.The fifth part explores the value implications of this important exposition: in terms of theoretical significance,Xi Jinping’s important exposition on food security inherits and develops Marxist food security thinking,enriches and innovates the Sinicized Marxist food security thinking,and deepens and expands the research horizon of China’s "three rural areas";from the practical significance,this important exposition provides guidance for ensuring national food security and realizing agricultural and rural modernization,and accumulates experience for solving the "three rural" problems and fully implementing the rural revitalization strategy.It has contributed Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to global food security governance.
