Research On The Impact Of Producer Services Import On The International Competitiveness Of China’s Manufacturing Industry

In recent years,the international trade pattern is changing quietly,and the international competition environment is becoming more and more open and inclusive,but also more and more cruel and fierce.As China’s dominant industry,the development of manufacturing industry is related to China’s further occupation of global market share and further consolidation and improvement of its international status.At present,the promoting effect of inputting basic factors of production on the development of China’s manufacturing industry is gradually weakening,and the comparative advantage of the inputting advanced factors of production is gradually revealing.As the advanced intermediate input factor of manufacturing industry,the production cost of manufacturing enterprises can be reduced,the added value of manufacturing products can be improved,and the international competitiveness of the whole manufacturing industry can be enhanced all by factor recombination effect,competition effect,production cost reduction effect and technology spillover effect.However,due to the small scale and poor quality of domestic producer services,its supply cannot meet the demand of China’s manufacturing industry,so the supply gap needs to be filled by imports.Based on this,this paper will discuss the impact on the international competitiveness of China’s manufacturing industry from "quantity" and "quality" two perspectives within the imported producer services.On the basis of consulting,summarizing and studying relevant papers of domestic and foreign scholars,this paper studies the influence of the imported producer services on the manufacturing industry international competitiveness from two aspects as the theoretical basis and mechanism of action.Secondly,the time series data of China’s imported producer services and China’s manufacturing industry international competitiveness from 2005 to 2019 are collected and sorted out to analyze their status.And also,the technological complexity and explicit comparative advantage index of the imported producer services are calculated by using corresponding methods,with the corresponding evaluation results made.Finally,by constructing a multiple regression model,this paper empirically analyzes the impact of the import value of producer services and the technological complexity of producer services on the international competitiveness of China’s manufacturing industry,and deeply discusses the difference of the impact on different technology-intensive imported producer service.The research results include: first,the total import value of producer services and the total import complexity of producer services have a significant positive impact on the international competitiveness of China’s manufacturing industry,and the impact of import technology complexity is greater than the impact of import value.Second,different technology-intensive imported productive service has different impacts on the international competitiveness of manufacturing industry.The value of imported medium and low technology-intensive producer services and the complexity of imported technology have a positive impact on the international competitiveness of China’s manufacturing industry.However,the value of high-tech intensive imported producer services and the complexity of imported technology have different impacts on the international competitiveness of manufacturing industry.The imported value has a positive impact,while the complexity of imported technology has a negative one.Based on the analysis of theoretical and empirical results,this paper further gives the following four suggestions: first,reduce service trade barriers,optimize the structure of imported producer service trade;Second,reduce market access restrictions and improve the development level of local producer services;Third,accelerate the accumulation of human capital and enhance the research and innovation capacity of manufacturing enterprises;Fourth,relying on productive services to transform and upgrade manufacturing industries with traditional advantages.
