| In the great change of the transfer of agricultural labor force to cities,China’s cities have achieved great development and the efficiency of urban development has been greatly improved. Then what impact has this transfer of rural labor force to cities had on China’s agricultural economic development, especially on the agricultural production efficiency? This is a very important issue.Different scholars and theories have different views and explanations on this issue. This paper deeply studies the impact mechanism and empirical law of China’s rural labor transfer on agricultural productivity from the perspectives of theoretical mechanism and empirical research. On the basis of theoretical analysis, this paper applies the spatial stochastic frontier model proposed by glass et al.(2016)to the calculation of regional agricultural productivity in China, which solves the endogenous problem caused by the geographical and spatial factors of regional agricultural production. The results of spatial decomposition and quantitative analysis of agricultural productivity in China are as follows:first, the results of spatial decomposition and quantitative analysis of agricultural productivity in rural areas are obtained based on spatial parameters, and finally, the results of spatial decomposition and econometric analysis are obtained, the transfer of rural labor force plays a positive role in promoting the improvement of regional agricultural productivity in China. This result is consistent with the theoretical analysis that the agricultural labor productivity is positive after reaching the first turning point of Lewis under the Lewis analysis paradigm. This conclusion means that from the overall direction, accelerating the transfer of agricultural labor force to cities is a correct development direction. But at the same time, the estimation results of time-varying coefficient spatial econometric model show that from the change b etween 2003 and 2020,the impact of rural labor transfer on agricultural productivity is gradually decreasing in the sample interval.Second, from the whole country, the transfer of rural labor force has played a positive role in promoting the technical efficiency and technological progress of regional agricultural production, but relatively speaking,it has a much greater impact on technological progress.Similarly, from the dynamic changes between 2003 and 2020,although the promotion effect of early rural labor transfer on technical efficiency is very low,it has improved in recent years, indicating that the exploration of new agricultural production modes in some eastern coastal developed provinces has played a certain role in promoting agricultural technical efficiency. However, the effect of labor transfer on the rate of technological progress has gradually decreased in the sample period.Third, from the regional test results, the test results in different regions are quite different. From the overall index of agricultural productivity, the transfer of agricultural labor force has a positive role in promoting the improvement of agricultural productivity in the eastern and central regions, among which the role in promoting the eastern region is higher than that in the central region. However, different from the eastern and central regions, the transfer of agricultural labor force has had a negative impact on the western region.Fourth,in the eastern region, the transfer of rural labor force has promoted the technical efficiency and technological progress, and the coefficients of both are relatively large. In the central region, labor transfer also promotes technical efficiency and technological progress, but its role is lower than that in the eastern region, which is closely related to the lower income level, marketization and social organization ability of the central region than that in the eastern region. In the western region, labor transfer has a negative correlation with technical efficiency, but it has no correlation with technological progress... |
