Food is the foundation of the national economy, and in order to ensure national food security, the state has successively issued policies such as "stopping the ’non-agricultural’of cultivated land, preventing the ’non-grain’ of cultivated land," and "doing everything possible to stabilize food production," Still, the phenomenon of "non-grain" of agricultural land planting persists.Farmers’ planting patterns are linked not only to their family income, but also to the development of China’s agrarian economy and national food security.Agricultural insurance,as an essential means of dispersing agrarian production and operation risks, plays an important role in ensuring farmers’ income and agricultural economic development. As a result, researching the impact of agricultural insurance on farmers’ planting structure adjustments is beneficial to promoting the sustainable and healthy development of agricultural insurance, ensuring national food security, and promoting agrarian economic development. Therefore, studying the impact of agricultural insurance on Farmers’ planting structure adjustment is conducive to promoting the sustainable and healthy development of agricultural insurance, ensuring national food security, and promoting the development of agricultural economy.Based on farmer behaviour theory, expected utility theory, behavior decision theory and insurance demand theory, this paper uses field research data from farmers in Jiangsu province to statistically analyse the relationship between agricultural insurance, farmers’ personal characteristics, household business situation and external environmental characteristics and farmers’ cropping structure, and establishes a multiple linear regression model to empirically analyse the impact of agricultural insurance on farmers’ cropping structure, controlling for farmers’ personal characteristics, household business situation and external environmental characteristics, and to study the extent of the impact of agricultural insurance on large and small farmers separately by size. The results show that: the implementation of agricultural insurance can stabilize farmers’ behaviour in growing food,i.e.there is no tendency to restructure farming, and the degree of influence of agricultural insurance on small farmers is stronger than that of large farmers;the increase in farmers’ education level can promote farmers’ restructuring of farming;the area planted per capita and agricultural income have a negative effect on farmers’ restructuring of farming,i.e.the expansion of planting scale and the increase in agricultural income can increase the share of farmers’ food growing.Combined with the findings of the empirical study, the following suggestions were made: the government should increase support to ensure the sustainable development of agricultural insurance;clarify the needs of farmers and carry out innovation in agricultural insurance products;improve the comprehensive quality of farmers to increase their household agricultural income;and standardize the land transfer system to effectively increase the area planted by farmers. |
