Investigation On Cassava Planting Willingness Of Farmers And Its Industrial Development Countermeasures In Guangxi

Cassava(Manihot esculenta Crantz)is one of the three major potato crops in the world,and is also a very important raw material for the development of biomass energy,which has very important strategic and economic value.However,China’s cassava production cannot be self-sufficient and has become the world’s largest importer of cassava.The development of the domestic cassava industry is important for the development of the agricultural economy,the control of international pricing power and the promotion of the "double carbon" standard.Guangxi owns advantageous production areas and is an important processing base for cassava in China.However,in recent years,it has faced a decline in farmers’ willingness to plant and the shrinking of planting areas.The development of the cassava industry is seriously challenged.Exploring and resolving related issues is an important basis for promoting the sustainable development of the cassava industry in Guangxi.This study analyses the current situation of the development of the cassava industry in Guangxi,combines research on the factors influencing the willingness of Guangxi farmers to plant cassava,and proposes countermeasures and suggestions for the development of the cassava industry in response to the problems identified,the details are as follows:Through literature and field research,expert interviews,SWOT,and other methods to analyze the development status of Guangxi’s cassava industry,the logistic binary regression model was used to empirically analyze farmers’ willingness to plant in the main cassava producing areas of Guangxi,and seven factors were found impacting on farmers’ willingness to plant significantly,including the degree of land fragmentation,planting area,fixed cost per mu,net profit per mu,participation in planting training,policy satisfaction and cassava price satisfaction.Finally,the main problems that exist in the development of the cassava industry in Guangxi are summarised:(1)the low level of cassava yields and other factors have led to insufficient economic benefits from cultivation,causing some farmers to switch to other crops,and the area under cultivation has been shrinking.;(2)the level of scientific and technological innovation is not high,and the generation of the replacement needed refreshing;(3)inadequate agricultural production facilities and low levels of mechanization.(4)the degree of land fragmentation is high,and the policy support is not obvious;(5)farmers’ ideological awareness is backward,and lack participation in training;(6)downstream enterprises have difficulties in production and operation,the degree of industrial integration and development is not deep;(7)fierce competition in international trade and high dependence on market imports;In order to improve farmers’ willingness to plant cassava in a targeted manner and solve the problems existing in the development of the cassava industry in Guangxi,this paper puts forward the following countermeasures and suggestions: First,increase farmers’ willingness to plant and expand the area under cassava cultivation.This includes promoting land transfer,establishing a policy subsidy system,increasing training and promotion of crop cultivation,and promoting intercropping patterns between cassava and other crops;second,increase investment in scientific research to solve cassava breeding challenges.This specifically includes introducing technical personnel,creating a mechanism for technology exchange,and increasing funding for cassava research;thirdly,enhance the construction of productive agricultural facilities and promote the mechanisation of cassava cultivation.This specifically includes enhancing the construction of productive agricultural facilities,accelerating the construction of mechanised agricultural bases;fourth,optimise the structure of the cassava industry and establish a cassava market-oriented operation system.This includes promoting new business management models,integrating industrial resources,increasing publicity for edible cassava and accelerating the construction of a cassava market system.
