After the 1970 s,China ’ s rapid economic and social development has compressed the modernization process of western countries and achieved ’qualitative breakthrough ’.The rapid development of market economy has provided great material benefits to the people, but at the same time, for a long time, the policy assessment of ’ GDP-only heroes ’ has not promoted the growth of people ’ s happiness level,so it falls into the ’ performance dilemma ’.In order to address the performance dilemma, the report of the Nineteenth National Congress pointed out that ’ making people feel better, happier and safer, more secure and more sustainable’ would enhance the strategic position of people ’s well-being.The social security system is an important institutional arrangement in modern society. The social security systems of various countries have also fully confirmed their great contributions in stabilizing society, coping with risks and promoting harmony. As an important part of the social security system, the basic old-age insurance shoulders important responsibilities for the elderly and reduces the burden on the society. However, the academic community has no consensus on the relationship between pension insurance and happiness. So can basic pension insurance improve people ’ s well-being?What is the way to achieve this process? These issues are still questionable. This paper intends to use the 2017 China General Social Survey(CGSS)to analyze the relationship between basic pension insurance and subjective well-being in China.First of all, this paper uses the ordinary least squares(OLS)method for principal regression, and proves that the basic pension insurance can promote the subjective well-being of residents. In addition, this paper uses the replacement model as the ordered probit.
