Research On The Impact Of Enterprise Digitalization On Total Factor Productivity

The 19 th National Congress of the CPC indicated that it’s essential to shift the center of economic development to the real economy,speed up the process of enterprise digitization,and promote the deep integration of the two.Enterprise digitization has become an important way to promote high-quality development and enhance TFP.For the present,the core technology in manufacturing is still in a "stuck neck" state,and the motivation for technological innovation is slightly insufficient.With the loss of labor cost advantages and the "two-way squeeze" of remanufacturing in developed countries.How to find new economic growth points and break through the technical barrier has become an issue demanding prompt solution in China.Along with the digital economy time,new techniques are increasingly altering the production and sales methods of enterprises,such as big data.Many firms have started turn to digitalization,and are eager to realize enterprise transformation and upgrading with the application of digital technology.Based on this,the thesis takes enterprise digitization as the research object,theoretically analyzes the effect of it on TFP,and verifies it through the measurement model.First of all,this article selected 935 sample firms in Shenzhen and Shanghai from2013 to 2019,measures the digital level of enterprises by text analysis and entropy method,and uses LP method to measure the TFP of firms.Based on previous scholars’ study,the mechanism of enterprise digitization on TFP and the intermediary role of technological innovation in it are generalized,and the research hypothesis of the article is brought on.Then,this article structured an model to verify the effect of enterprise digitalization level on TFP,and studies the heterogeneous impact of enterprise digitalization level of different urban agglomerations,different ownership and different factor intensity on TFP,and measures the technological innovation performance of enterprises from two levels of innovation output and input,and examines the intermediary role of technological innovation in the process of enterprise digitalization level to improve TFP.Finally,according to the conclusion,the article imparted some advice on improving TFP by enterprise digitization.The thesis concludes that:(1)the TFP of enterprises displays a slow increasing situation annually.It in eastern enterprises is higher over other three region enterprises,but the growth rate of it in the latter is faster over the former;It of state-owned and state-holding ventures is higher over three other ventures,but the growth rate of it of the latter is faster over the former.(2)The digitalization level of enterprises displays a tortuous upward situation annually.it in the eastern region is significantly higher than that of central,western and northeastern enterprises,but the development speed of it of the latter is basically the same or even higher over the former;it of state-owned and state-controlled firms is higher over three other ventures,but it of the latter is growing faster over the former.(3)The improvement of digital level of enterprises significantly improves TFP,and which is still true after a few of robustness verification.(4)it can improve TFP by enhancing technological innovation capabilities(including innovation input and innovation output).(5)Heterogeneity research concluded that: from a regional perspective,it in the eastern and central urban agglomerations improves TFP,the western and northeastern urban agglomerations digitization level has not improve TFP;from the perspective of ownership,enterprise digitization can promote TFP of all ventures,but over the first two(including state-controlled and private firms),enterprise digitization has a more obvious role in promoting the TFP of the latter two;from the perspective of factor intensity,enterprise digitization can affect the TFP of different factor-intensive enterprises.However,the promotion effect on the TFP of technology-intensive firms is relatively the highest,and it is relatively small for capital-intensive firms.
