| Economics was first developed on the basis of western social economy and then imported to China.The start and development of modern economics in China is relatively late.In the middle of the 19 th century,China was forced to join the process of economic globalization,and economics started the process of "Eastern Western Learning".During this period,a large number of patriotic young people studying abroad emerged and obtained doctorate degrees in economics,contributing to the development of economic theory in China and the world.Based on a global perspective,this paper selects Economic Research Review,one of the top international journals in economics,as the source of historical data,and uses search engines to screen out the articles published by Chinese economists in The Review of Economic Studies before 1978.By means of literature analysis and historical analysis,the articles published by Chinese economists in The Review of Economic Studies are studied from the content and value of the articles,so as to improve the current academic research on the history of Chinese economic thought.This paper systematically studies 14 articles published by Chinese economists in The Review of Economic Studies before 1978.This article divides the articles into four categories according to the areas of concern of the Chinese economists’ articles in The Review of Economic Studies,and is discussed through six chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the journal The Review of Economic Studies and briefly introduces the issues concerned by the articles of Chinese economists published The Review of Economic Studies before 1978 and the life of the scholars.The second chapter expounds the research of Chinese economists on the history of economic thought.One is Fan Hong’s comparison of Keynes and Marx’s theory of capital production with effective demand theory and monetary interest theory;the other is Choh-Ming Li questioning and explanation of Hicks’ analysis of complements and substitutes.The third chapter expounds the research of Chinese economists on international economic issues.First,Tse Chun Chang investigated the impact on import demand from three aspects: the degree of national self-sufficiency,marginal import propensity and import demand elasticity;second,Henry Y.Wan,Jr.proposed a measurement method of trade income through the method of comparison.The fourth chapter expounds the research of Chinese economists on microeconomic issues.First,Henry Y.Wan,Jr.studied how to carry out industrial protection under the condition of learning by doing from the perspectives of utility maximization and national output maximization;second,Lawrence J.Lau studied from the perspective of production function,marginal productivity,production possibility set,profit function The correlation between the six and the supply function proves the duality of technology and economic behavior;the third is Yew-Kwang Ng’s research on the optimal pricing strategy under budget constraints;the fourth is YewKwang Ng’s perspectives of limited sensitivity and utility illusion,determined the aggregated form of social welfare function;fifthly,Lawrence J.Lau explained the AllenUzawa substitution elasticity function;sixthly,Hu Shengzheng analyzed the impact of different social security systems on individual retirement time choices.The fifth chapter expounds the research of Chinese economists on macroeconomic issues.One is Pao-San Ou’s analysis of ex ante savings and liquidity preferences;the other is Winston W.Chang ’s reexamination of Kaldor’s 1940 model;the third is Winston W.Chang ’s proposal for an economy with induced bias in technological progress Growth model;Fourth,Hu Shengzheng constructed an economic growth model including investment in education and tangible capital.Chapter 6 summarizes the characteristics of Chinese economists’ economic viewpoints and some inspirations from the authors on how to publish in top journals.In general,this paper systematically sorts out and reviews the opinions of Chinese economists published in The Review of Economic Studies before 1978.The author believes that the economic viewpoints and thoughts of Chinese economists are an important part of the history of China’s economic thought,a treasure of the Chinese nation,and worthy of our further exploration. |
