The emergence and application of the Internet, especially the mobile Internet, has not only created good technical conditions for the development of commercial banks, but also impacted the development of banking-related businesses. As a new payment method based on the Internet,third-party payment has become a favorite way of consumption and investment for the majority of financial consumers by virtue of its personalized channel and platform design,as well as convenient and fast financial services. In addition, compared with commercial banks focusing on capital and credit business,third-party payment focuses on the marginal business of commercial banks such as payment and settlement, wealth management products, and information consulting, thus gaining a huge market space and a good reputation.Facing the impact of the rapid evolution of third-party payment in a relatively short period of time, commercial banks come to aware the significance of the evolution of middle-operation,and tried to optimize the development of intermediary business to obtain favorable conditions in competition. However, constrained by the concept and mode of traditional intermediary business development, commercial banks lack scientific positioning and clear direction guidance in the development of intermediary business, resulting in inefficient or even ineffective intermediary business development.Based on this,it is necessary to conduct an empirical study on the influence of intermediary to pay on the development of merchant banks’ middle-operation,so as to clarify the influence of intermediary to pay on the evolution of merchant banks’middle-operation,and formulate scientific intermediary business development strategies accordingly. This paper tries to study the influence of the third party payment mode on the intermediary business of commercial banks. The positive and negative effects of third-party payment on commercial banks’ intermediary services are verified by empirical research, especially the specific effects of third-party payment on commercial banks’ intermediary services. The results show that the third-party payment can promote the development of agency intermediary business, but it also has a negative impact on commitment intermediary business and payment and settlement intermediary business. At the same time, the third-party payment has different impacts on the intermediary business of state-owned commercial banks and non-state-owned commercial banks, among which,it has a negative impact on the intermediary business of payment and settlement and agency of state-owned commercial banks, the business of guarantee and commitment of non-state-owned commercial banks, and the intermediary business of bank card, and has a corresponding promotive role in the development of the advisory intermediary business of state-owned commercial banks and the intermediary business of agency of non-state-owned commercial banks.Based on the empirical analysis, this paper puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions, which are of practical significance to the actual business departments.
