| As acceleration of service globalization and deepening subdivision of global value-chain,global service trade grows fast at the speed of outpacing trade in goods. The focus of global trade structure inclined to service trade.China’s service trade development is characterized by “large quantity and low quality”,namely, fast growth and expansion of service trade, but our corresponding competitiveness and internationalization is deficient. However,Japan has been obviously competitive in finance and tourism relying on primary investment in service trade and later policy adjustment.China outpaced Japan in 2010 and became the second largest economy in the world and two countries’ complementarity is weakening while competitiveness is strengthening in the field of international trade.Comparing and studying Chinese and Japanese international competitiveness in service trade are not only conducive to further elevate China’s international competitiveness in service trade but provide reference for other scholars to conduct relevant studies. It was based on theories of service trade and theories of international competitiveness in service trade, and adopted comparative analysis, index measurement and empirical analysis to research Chinese and Japanese international competitiveness in service trade and influential factors.Firstly,it combined relevant studies at home and abroad, defined study perspective and expounded relevant theories about service trade and international competitiveness in service trade. On this basis,it analyzed development status of Chinese and Japanese service trade from trade scale, trade structure and balance of trade. It concluded that Japan’s service trade scale grows steadily and trade structural is highly advanced and income and expenses of trade tend to be balanced. As for Japan,China needs to further improve import structure of service trade and balance of service trade.Secondly,it combined index measurement and comparative analysis and employed multi-index system constituted by TC index,NRCA index,IMS index and RCA index to compare and analyze Chinese and Japanese international competitiveness in service trade from perspectives of general and branch departments. The results showed that Japan has a competitive advantage in both the traditional and emerging service sectors.China’s emerging sectors’ service trade competitiveness is uprising, but the general international competitiveness in service trade is disadvantaged and there isn’t any strong competitive advantage at knowledge-intensive sectors. It shows that there is still a certain gap between China and Japan.Thirdly,it adopted multivariate regression method to decompose influential factors on Chinese and Japanese international competitiveness in service trade. The result shows that the positive empowerment of China’s export volume of goods trade and net flow of foreign direct investment on service trade competitiveness is evident under the condition of the same explanatory variable.Whereas,Japan’s human capital plays a dominantly positive role in international competitiveness in service trade, and Japan’s labor participation works negatively. The comparative advantage of Chinese and Japanese international competitiveness in service trade is varied in general and branch sectors.Various influential factors on Chinese and Japanese international competitiveness in service trade are differentiated in contributing their respective international competitiveness. The linkage effect of trade in goods should be enhanced on service trade, talents in service industry should be paid great attention to cultivate, service industry should be opened in order, the quality of foreign capital should be improved and service trade structure should be optimized, thus,China’s international competitiveness in service trade can be truly advanced. |
