Effects Of News Values On Deliberation Quality Of Comment Areas Of Weibo News Accounts

In the era of social media,the development of information technology and changes in the media environment have allowed traditional news values to extend to the audience.Audiences form their own news selection criteria based on their own news value judgments,and produce different participation behaviors on new media platforms according to such criteria and value orientations,including commenting on the news they see in the comment area and expressing their opinions,Which makes the comment area expected to become an open forum for everyone to express their opinions.As form of democracy,Deliberation places a specific concept of communication at the center of the decision-making process.The public sphere is the place where deliberative behavior takes place.It is the "core and soul" of deliberative democracy,and the news comment area can be regarded as a deliberative public sphere.The Internet makes deliberative public spheres possible,and news comments are places where deliberative events take place,making the comment area an open forum for expressing their opinions.This study obtained all articles and comments under articles from the four media Weibo accounts of People’s Daily,Ifeng News,Global Times,and The Paper from October 15 to October 28,2021 through data capture,and randomly selected 232 pieces of news and 5,208 comments under these 232 pieces of news were published,and the value elements of the news and corresponding comments were coded in the four latitudes of opinion diversity,interaction,rationality,and civility,and passed SPSS makes a regression analysis and finds that some value elements of the news can indeed affect the quality of the audience’s comments.Specifically,when news events contain potential conflicts,the opinions in the comment area will be more diverse,more interactive and more rational,but uncivilized language is more likely to appear.When exposed to more obtrusive news,views in the comment area will be more diverse and the interaction will increase.More positive reports in the news will promote civilized of the comments,while people tend to be more rational and inclusive when exposed negative news.In addition,political news can also make the public more rational.
