With the rapid development of mobile social media,short videos have quickly become a new stage for people to show their self-image.in the rural area of our country,there arose a group of different traditional farmers but also engaged in the related agriculture work.they are good at using all kinds of media to fully display the landscape of the new countryside,new farmers and new agriculture,presenting the unique media image.this study uses the theory of drama as an analytical tool,adopts the methods of observation,interview and text analysis,and selects Douyin short video as the research object to analyze the new landscape of media self-presentation of new farmers in the social era of short video.This study first reviews the relevant research on the theory of drama and the research status of the image of the new farmer media,and defines the key concepts.Secondly,through the analysis of short video platform as a stage for media performance of new farmers,and how new farmers use this stage for media performance,the construction type and motivation of the role of new farmers are studied.Thirdly,starting from Goffman’s impression management theory,this paper deeply analyzes the strategies of dramatization,idealization,distortion and mystification used by Xinnong on Douyin platform.Finally,it reflects on the deficiency of the image presentation of the new farmer media and puts forward corresponding suggestions.The study found that new farmers present a variety of roles on the Douyin platform,such as hard-working and simple gourmet,humorous cheerful person and personality publicity.The construction of these role images is influenced by many factors such as new media and new social interaction,new era and new countryside,new image and new expression,new life and new income.Through the management of media exhibition space and the use of dramatization,idealization,distortion and mystification strategies,new farmers create a unique and attractive media image.However,there are some deficiencies in the image presentation of new farmers’media,such as images divorced from reality,obvious personalization,similar image types,entertainment-oriented tendency,limited long-term development and excessive commercialization.In order to improve the media image presentation of new farmers,this study puts forward the following suggestions:objectively show the new countryside and restore the real image of new farmers;Avoid over-personalization;Pay attention to value transmission,improve the video taste of new farmers,reduce the tendency of entertainment;The platform strengthens the check and social responsibility of the new farmers to ensure their long-term development.
