The Networked Survival Of Transgender Groups From The Perspective Of Wechat

The division of gender binary between men and women and the public’s non-acceptance of non-binary groups make transgender groups face difficulties in self-identification and social interaction,and group aphasia makes transgender groups bear stigmatizing social labels for a long time,aggravating the situation the plight of the transgender community.In the social media era where We Chat is in full swing,transgender groups use virtual social platforms to build an alternative media life outside the real space.This paper places the transgender group from the perspective of We Chat,and tries to investigate the transgender group in the virtual space from the three dimensions of self-identification,social interaction,and self-voice through three research methods: online ethnography,in-depth interviews,and text analysis.Wechat use behaviors,trying to show the little-known online living state of transgender groups in my country.At the same time,this research promotes the public to pay attention to the marginalized group of transgender,and promotes the improvement of the living conditions of this group and the promotion of the concept of gender diversity in society.This study found that:1.Transgender people’s self-identification has gone through three macro-processes: identity establishment,identity disclosure,and identity expression.In the identity establishment stage,self-science popularization and joining the community can help transgender people solve their identity confusion and enter the stage of identity tolerance.In the identification and disclosure stage,the use of We Chat to improve the psychological expectations of the out-of-the-closer is conducive to achieving out-of-the-closer behavior.In the identity expression stage,the changeability of personal gender profiles,the grouping function of We Chat Moments,and the classified management of multiple We Chat accounts can help transgender people play different gender roles.2.Transgender groups use We Chat communities to interact in groups,establish intimate relationships and participate in social interactions.In terms of group interaction,individuals who join the community can gain a sense of security and establish new social relationships,but the circle within the community can easily lead to group estrangement and group division.In terms of intimacy,transgender friends are often confined to circles,and the We Chat community provides a range of potential choices for transgender members to make friends.In terms of social communication,on the one hand,We Chat has expanded the social space of transgender people and expanded online and offline social relationships,and on the other hand,it has also led to the contagion of depression and the emergence of group polarization.3.Transgender groups use We Chat public accounts to achieve self-voice.From the perspective of voice motivation,transgender groups choose We Chat public account to voice is the result of internal and external factors.From the perspective of vocalization strategies,transgender groups have adopted corresponding communication strategies in terms of vocalization content,vocalization object,and vocalization timing.From the perspective of the limitations of vocalization,it is difficult to transmit transgender voices to the outside of the group with a gentle and slow way of fighting,and it is difficult for self-voice to change the real predicament.
