With the formal integration of the study traval curriculum into the teaching plan of primary and secondary schools in China,Study travel has opened up a new direction for the cross-border development of education and tourism integration in China, and has received extensive attention from multiple disciplines and interdisciplinary fields, but the university student study travel did not attract enough attention. With the vigorous support of national policies and the active promotion of all sectors of society, the rapid development of the study travel market has become a new format in the tourism industry. Some scholars have proposed that the concept of global tourism and industrial integration and development should be used to guide study travel, create diversified products, and realize the long-term sustainable development strategy of the cultural tourism industry. As a combination of research-based learning and experiential travel, study travel is the embodiment of the implementation of quality education in the comprehensive practical curriculum, and is a useful supplement and virtuous cycle of classroom education. How effective study travel is to learn will be the key to measuring and examining the quality of education.Based on embodied cognitive theory, this study explores the nesting effect of the relationship between body, environment and cognition.Based on this, research hypotheses were proposed and a structural equation model was constructed to explore the relationship among university students’ physical involvement, immersion perception, emotional perception and learning satisfaction, deep learning and learning effectiveness. The study found that physical participation did not have a positive significant effect on the learning satisfaction and learning effectiveness of university students’ study travel, which is different from previous studies. In previous studies, primary and secondary school students were mostly used as the main body of research, and in empirical studies, physical participation had a positive and significant impact on learning effect and learning satisfaction.Firstly, combined with the analysis of Erickson’s eight-stage theory of psychosocial development,it is concluded that the age range of primary and secondary school students in the transition period from school age to adolescence, the senses of primary and secondary school students at this stage are developing at a high speed, curiosity, sensitivity, and desire to explore promote their desire to communicate and interact with the outside world, manifested instinctively using their bodies to actively explore the world,so by strengthening physical participation can effectively improve their learning satisfaction and learning effectiveness.Compared with primary and secondary school students, university students tend to mature and stabilize in physiological, cognitive, and social development, and have stronger self-regulation ability and prior knowledge reserve, thereby regulating cognitive difficulty and affecting learning effectiveness. In addition, due to the neglect of the body’s cognitive function under the influence of traditional educational concepts, university students’ awareness of physical participation in study travel is weak, and the learning mode continues the passive input of knowledge into the brain and then processing in classroom teaching, and does not convert into the mode of collecting information from the body and then entering the brain for processing. Finally, the learning effectiveness is affected by multiple factors, and this study puts forward hypotheses based on the perspective of embodied cognition and combines the limited research results at home and abroad through literature review, and the conclusions obtained have certain limitations. The introduction of embodied cognition theory further explores the internal operation mechanism of study travel learning through experience, fills the long-term lack of physical cognition in China’s exam-oriented education, provides a reliable theoretical basis for the development and implementation of future study travel courses, and has certain practical guiding significance for improving the quality and learning effectiveness of study travel activities. The development strategy of study travel based on embodied cognitive theory provides a new interdisciplinary perspective, which will help further deepen China’s quality education and promote the process of education and teaching reform.
