| The novel coronavirus epidemic has prompted human to introspect the relationship between humans and nature.The "Guideline for Learning and Development of Children Aged 3-6 years" emphasize the value of children contacting with nature.Then children can learn to respect and protect nature.However,in contemporary society,increasingly kids are far from nature and have the "nature deficit disorder".The main purpose of this research is to find out how kindergartens can provide opportunities for children to get close to nature and how to carry out pro-nature curriculum effectively.A top class in a model kindergarten of Shanghai was selected for this study.Based on the situation of nature-friendly teaching activities in the class,the researcher applied the action research paradigm to launch a spiral action research,which includes planning,implementation,examination and reflection.In this action research,the researcher explored the strategies to design and implement pro-nature teaching activities effectively.During the study,the researcher generated two nature-related themes: leaves and seeds,which based on the kids’ interests and experience.Then researcher implemented two rounds of action research,with a total of six action cycles of group teaching activities.The research improved the pro-nature teaching activities of class and contributed to the development of the children’s biophilia and the teachers’ nature-education concepts.Afterwards,the researcher summarized supportive strategies for teacher in two aspects: how to promote children interact with nature and to implement courses effectively in terms of goals setting,content,methods,evaluation as well as the natural atmosphere.Finally,the researcher suggested that teachers should improve their nature literacy and design pro-nature teaching goals reasonably;make full use of the natural resources around them to support children’s interaction with nature;pay attention to children’s interests and experiences to generate natural contents;activities implementation should according to the principles of life connection,generation and integration;integrate evaluation methods and focus on the experience process of children;and play the function of the corner environment to create a natural atmosphere. |
