The psychological problems of contemporary college students have become increasingly prominent, and have been highly valued by the state. As an important part of the education process, the stage of higher education plays an irreplaceable role in the construction of students’ mental health. As an important indicator for evaluating mental health, mental toughness can effectively awaken crisis awareness, alleviate negative effects and quickly return to normal levels. From the current research, psychological toughness can be improved through intervention methods. The multiple correlations between resilience are often used as an intervention to cultivate college students’ psychological resilience.Orienteering,as a high-cognitive sport under time pressure, can play a good role in tempering mental toughness and its various dimensions during the exercise process, but there are no relevant studies on orienteering and mental toughness.more common.By formulating a scientific and pertinent course intervention plan, this study uses an experimental method to study the impact of orienteering on the psychological resilience of college students,in order to explore the correlation between orienteering and psychological resilience of college students, and provide a basis for the further development and development of orienteering.Popularization provides a theoretical basis and new ideas for improving the psychological resilience of college students. This study used the literature method, expert interview method, experimental method, mathematical statistics method, logical analysis method, etc.,to develop the teaching program related to orienteering course intervention, and selected one orienteering course class and two administrative classes from Shandong Youth Political College, and screened a total of 100non-sports students, divided into experimental group and control group 1 according to whether to choose orienteering course, and conducted experimental intervention for 12 weeks for the experimental group, and the control group 1 did not participate in any form of orienteering.During the Shandong Youth Political College,Qufu Normal University, and the 2022 O-TOUR competition, some outstanding athletes who have systematically trained for one year or more and have achieved the top eight in provincial and above competitions were selected as control groups2,including high-level athletes and non-sports students,as experimental subjects to explore the impact of orienteering on college students’ mental toughness.Research shows:(1)The mental toughness and levels of various dimensions in the experimental group and the control group 1 before the experiment were consistent, generally in the normal range, the upper middle level,no significant difference, homogeneity, and met the experimental requirements.(2)After the experiment in the experimental group, psychological toughness and the level of various dimensions were significantly improved, indicating that the orienteering course had a significant effect on improving the mental toughness and level of all dimensions of college students.(3)The levels of mental toughness,self-improvement and optimism dimensions of control group 1 were significantly improved after the experiment, but the level of tenacity dimension was not significantly improved, indicating that general physical education courses had a significant effect on improving the level of mental resilience,self-improvement and optimism of college students, and had no significant effect on improving the level of resilience dimension of college students.(4)After the experiment, the levels of mental toughness, tenacity and self-improvement in the experimental group and the control group 1 were significantly different, and the difference in the level of optimism dimension was not significant, indicating that the orienteering course had a more significant effect on improving the mental toughness, tenacity and self-improvement dimension level of college students than the general physical education course, but no matter what kind of sport, participating in the physical education course was conducive to improving the optimism level of college students.(5)The levels of mental toughness, tenacity and self-improvement in the experimental group and control group 2 were significantly different, but the difference in the level of optimism was not significant. The mental toughness and average values of all dimensions were higher than those of "systematic training for 1-4 years",among which the levels of mental toughness, tenacity and self-improvement were significantly improved, but the level of optimism was not significant. It shows that long-term systematic orienteering exercise has a more obvious effect on improving the psychological toughness, tenacity and self-improvement of college students, and can play a better role, but the optimistic dimension is not significantly related to whether to carry out systematic training and the length of systematic training time.(6)The longer the exposure to orienteering, the more obvious the effect on improving the psychological toughness, tenacity and self-improvement of college students, and can play a better role.Conclusion:(1)The experiment confirmed that orienteering can effectively promote the changes of various dimensions of college students’ mental toughness and improve the overall level of mental toughness.(2)Compared with other physical education courses, orienteering can have a good impact on the overall level of resilience,self-improvement and mental toughness, while the optimistic dimension is not obvious.(3)The impact of orienteering on college students’ mental toughness is affected by time and intensity, and long-term participation in orienteering training has better effects on improving college students’ mental toughness, tenacity and self-improvement,and is proportional to the number of years of participation.(4)On the basis of experiments, combined with the characteristics of the project,an improved orienteering teaching plan is proposed to provide reference for the teaching and popularization of orienteering in colleges and universities.Suggestion:(1)The study found that the mental health problems of college students have been widely paid attention to,and psychological toughness as a positive influencing factor can have a greater impact on it,and it is recommended that orienteering exercise be used as an intervention means to improve college students’ mental toughness, and effectively improve the level of college students’ mental resilience through the organic combination of courses and training.(2)The teaching plan of the orienteering course of this institute is proposed on the basis of improving the psychological resilience of college students, but the multiple values of orienteering still need to be developed, and more in-depth research should be carried out from multiple angles in the future.(3)Orienteering as a high-cognitive participation sport,in the process of activities, participants can get better physical and mental exercise, the venue is not limited, not only can meet the exercise of the student group, but also suitable as an activity project of all ages, should be widely spread and popularized in different groups of people, the teaching plan proposed in this article can also be guided to a certain extent.(4)The results of this study showed that orienteering courses were superior to general physical education courses in improving the psychological resilience of college students. However, each physical education course has its own unique role in educating people, and schools should carry out a variety of sports courses according to the actual situation and conditions to meet the needs of students.
