Undergraduate research is an effective way to cultivate undergraduate critical thinking and innovation consciousness,that is important guarantee for quality of higher education personnel training.American research university has long history of undergraduate research development,and now form a relatively mature set of operation mechanism.The history of undergraduate Research in American research university can be divided into three phase including germination stage,development period and mature stage.The development motivation includes respond to the external need for public accountability for quality assurance and to adapt to the internal needs of higher education itself.Undergraduate research in American research university operation mechanism consist of operation organization,operation guarantee,operation model and operation program.Using the methods of literature analysis,comparative research and case analysis,to analyze undergraduate research operation mechanism in American research university.Based on combing the history and development motivation of undergraduate research,this study selects two representative American research university to analyze the operation mechanism from three angles including the type of project,related security and implement results of university of California,Los Angeles and the university of Michigan,digging deeper into the characteristics of undergraduate research operation mechanism in American research university.In combination with the actual situation of undergraduate research operation mechanism in our country’s research university,put forward the proposal including Improve project management and institutional construction of undergraduate research,strengthen the evaluation and standard construction of undergraduate scientific research process,intensify efforts to apply and transform our achievements of undergraduate research,rich resources integration and guarantee channels of undergraduate research and standardize education mechanism and training process in order to promote the development of undergraduate research operation mechanism in our country’s research university.
